Massoth decoder consist speed

volcano

Ideas bigger that wallet or brain !
I have two LGB genesis loco's (with massoth xls) that I have put together as a consist using my MTS system,
the rear loco is slightly pushing the front one.
I need to slow the rear loco - I have fitted ditch lights to the front one so don't want to swap them
Is it as simple as changing rear loco CV2 ( start speed ) to a higher number or front loco CV2 to a lower number.

That may have some effect, along with adjusting Vmid (CV6) and Vmax (CV5) but usually for speed matching people enable the speed table in the decoder and set the CVs for each speed step to get as close a match as they can. Probably easier to try and slow the faster loco a little, to match the slower one

Thanks Nick I tried the start voltage and it didn't do much - so I did one step at a time and looked at the speed table and its complexity scared the pants off me ( leave well alone until more experienced) - so dropped the max speed settings to 190 the small print says this acts on the whole range - it did the job except for the first 4 speed steps which I can live with as I don't do much shunting with a pair of Genesis loco's, When I put 3 or 6 Amtrak coaches as a load even the first 4 steps were matched for speed Thanks again.
