Massoth 1200Z - factory output amps setting

Does anyone with a 1200z central station know what the output amps setting is when the unit was shipped from the factory? (4, 7 or 12 amps)

I was attempting to adjust some parameters, got distracted and realised I'd set output to 4 amps... Presumably there shouldn't be an issue with setting output to 12 amps but as I've never tinkered with this, and everything worked fine "out of the box", I'd like to reset the unit to what it was when it was built.

I believe its 12A but set it to the best value that is best for you.

The highest output may delay the overload cutout protection (because it has to allow a higher current in the first place). It is probably a good idea to run it at the lowest setting that will reliably supply the current that you need.

I was under the impression that ideally it should be 7 amps which is what I have got mine set as.

I couldn't agree more, the lower the setting the less risk of damage if(when) something goes wrong.

If you get the hang of setting and resetting the value set it to the lowest value and only increase it if the unit repeatedly trips out without good reason.
Four amps should be adequate unless you run two or more twin motor locos simultaneously with sound, smoke, heavy loads, coach lighting or accessories.
As a guide a Massoth XL decoder recommended for most twin motor locos has a max. motor output of 3A with an extra 1A for other functions

You can also set the trip-time..
This can be a compromise between a fast trip, and not going off for every time you go over a point with a badly adjusted skate.
