Where is this mammoth line? Arizona? There is a humming bird visible at around 12mins in Pt2.
The bridges and cuttings are REAL ones!
Despite the v dirty rails it is presumably track power.

Even though the 2 part video lasts for a total of 36mins it doesn't cover it all.

I took a look at both videos when I saw your post this morning. It seems to be a phenominal layout of track and well ballasted.

I did feel it (driver's eye view) to be a little boring as the terrain was rather arrid and devoid of interest. I am sure that lineside views cut in would have added further interest - although I am sure there will be full-size railway journeys just the same in certain parts of the world.

What I did find worthy of note, was the ballasting of all the track - truly painstaking.

In places there are viewing platforms but they are in the middle of nowhere - and there is a lot of that.
The line cuts through areas of tarmac.
I wouldn't even wish to pay for the track - all brass and mostly I think, Aristo.

These are new vids of the layout. It has been a little extended since the last ones and is still a railway in development
The 'tarmac' areas are crushed real cinder 'fines' that are scale size of the stuff that used to be utilised in '1:1' real scale for ballasting track in yards etc.
This is the nearest that a G scale layout can come to replicating the great 'arid' distances that railroads travel through in parts of the US, great to watch and imagine!
Very impressive crossing area with trestles and bridging in evidence.
It definitely could do with a few more buildings (industry, water towers, domiciles etc although the 'township' looks very good), a few more people and some road crossings.
It is interesting that a big station/depot has been put under the viewing platform!

I reckon that a cam sensor/wheel magnet was missing from the loco sound system....
