Morning,

Im off to GRS on Thursday so can pick up some low melt solder there. However, I want to get on with the kit im using it on but guessing you can only get the stuff from model shops and post?

I think it is only sold by specialist model shops. I've been told that it is quite hard to use without melting the white metal parts you are soldering so have always used glue instead.
You can buy a soldering iron where you can set the temperature to that of the low melt solder, thus minimising and damage to the castings, but epoxy resin is useful as well.

You may need to buy a specific flux to use with the low melt solder. Carrs make a range which should be available from any good model shop....

Thanks guys. Ive used it before and have no choice on the kit i'm building- a gauge 3 GRS machaw. Sadly GRS still use way to much whitemetal castings in their kits and this one was produced before they improved the instructions!
