I have often mentioned the above layout in threads, that I built with three friends in our old club back in South Shields - as I was into video at the time I don't have many still shots of it, but here are a few others have given me over the years. It was about 40 feet by 12, two scenes joined by non scenic end boards. The car float floats, in real water - I made that, as you might imagine, ex-sea dog and all that......

Oh, this is hard when you can't pick the photo first.....this should be a GP7 at Spelkins

we had a lot of fun with this layout!

NHN is over the back in this shot, sporting a beard. Operator is Charlie Hudson, another of the builders

Overall view, NHN and Tony Lambert (the lead modeller of the project - great guy) just in shot on the right. NHN realises how fat he has gotten in the intervening 8 years!!

The car float again, floating......

The buildings ARE big!! they are hinged, and fold flat for transport.

we never lost a loco, but a few cars did get wet on occasion - there is a shark in there too.....

Neil,
Very nice photos. Lots of attention to detail here. Was this an O Scale layout ?
Charles M

No, it's G 'scale', Charles. Very light hearted, tongue in cheek stuff - but all USA prototypes. Of all gauges!! (proto)
