Loco storage - a cunning plan

I had arranged a bit of swap and barter with Rik of Peckforton fame (GE Rik) and we called by on our way back from Wales.

Rick had made some stock storage boxes, and these were now surplus to requirements, and I need a way to carry my tender locos (yes, you have to look after the little darlings as they have tender behinds) from shed to track (when I`ve laid it).

The difficulty with tender locos is that you don`t want to keep disconnecting the tender electrics.

So:

As the architect designed it :D :D

As the works modified it ;D ;D

Clever modification! So pleased they have been put to good use. ;D ;D

Very useful indeed!

I was just musing (it is not illegal)

Could they be altered to allow the loco to roll from the carrier onto the track (and back on) by continuing the `track slot` to the front but with struts underneath for integrity?

I have long thought about that - and still haven't discounted it.

Plan A, however, is to have a spur, and to plonk the loco carrier in line, and on the correct level. I'll have to do a bit of work on simple auto-alignment, but in the new garden I'll have enough space.

However, Plan B is a good alternative :P :P :P :P :P

There is another secret success of the cunning plan 8) 8)

I bought three plastic crates to carry these locos when I moved house. I now have potentially three storage boxes for rolling stock, and I felt lucky on evilbay last night O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0

And with the final piece in place - a dust cover courtesy of Tuppeny Lane (get the memsahibs to check out the website - Tuppenylane.co.uk)..........

.........we`re ready to create sawdust mayhem and start on No 2 :D :D :D :D
