Llangollen Garden Railway Festival 2023

Can you move it to Swindon ? :emo::emo:

It could be done, but it might pose a bit of a problem...you got room for this in Swindon?

We have arrived in Llangollen, just having a cream tea in a riverside cafe, nice, but wondering if it was wise leaving two teenagers alone for 48 hours

I'm sure it will be fine, I expect they will have plenty of friends around to help them look after the place and to clear up after the Eurovision party.

Meny thanks to all of you who managed to make it to the festival today ,despite the motorway closure, a fantastic fun fill day catching up with friends and getting the bargains

Another excellent day, Mike!
I have nearly lost my voice!

Still managed to spend some money, though. :lipssealed:;)

Did curtis curtis get his Harz 2-10-2?

When I spoke to him he hadn't but there were two there for sale so maybe he weakened , there was also plenty of other stuff on sale ( see pic of just one traders stall below) and I did see Mrs D loading a large red box into Mike's car, no doubt the first of many. myself, I only bought a few bits and came back with a fairly full wallet, much to Mrs J surprise,

It was a great show, much appreciation to all those who worked to pull it together :)

On the way home on the advice of Brixham, Lisa and I walked across the Pontcysyllte aqueduct on the LLongollen canal , breath taking views if a little nerve wracking

Even scarier if you are on a boat with that narrow bit of tin between you and oblivion. Would have loved to attend Ll show but other plans got in the way.

I did, eventually, bite the bullet. I was messaging Nikki and feeling guilty about the price point but she told me to go for it.

It was the SDG 2-10-2, not the Harz one. Still a thing of beauty though and ran it briefly on the G Scale Society layout. Current in the airport waiting for my flight and home and looking forward to running it. Got a few other bits and pieces too.

The show was excellent. I had a fantastic day. I mentioned to a couple of folks yesterday that it was nice to chat face to face to people. I'm lucky to have the community of this forum and the GSS but there is something different about seeing people in the flesh. Exhibitors were fantastic - they Gauge 3 layout was a thing of beauty and had a lovely chat with R RDFMTS2 on the 16mm modular layout (first I've seen it).

Will definitely be heading back next year (although may enforce logistics constraints by not taking a suitcase!)

So from me, a giant thank you and thumbs up for the organisers, exhibitors and traders - absolutely made the trip worth it!

Lovely to meet you in person Curtis, and to put faces to other people I previously only knew as names. We had a good day running the modular layout, and by the time we had packed up and left, the accident on the A5 was cleared up so we missed the delays getting away after.

Just home this afternoon, after a long diversion after some one shut the motorway for the weekend..
Thank you to all those who made a good festival a great one, it was amazing to meet up with new friends, and catch up with old ones, some fantastic bargains to be had , and I was forced to stand by the entrance doors till the very last vister was admitted,
We dedicated this year's festival to the memories of the late ,great ,Walter Turner, aka Mr Playmobile, we asked Marion, his wife to officially open the festival at 10, with a short speech
a fitting tribute to a wonderful man.20230513_121726.jpg20230513_103214.jpg20230513_114006.jpg20230513_113340.jpg

Everyone obviously had a good day! If it doesn't clash with Brambleton again I may persuade SWMBO that we really need a holiday in Wales :giggle:

Spot the Editor! Phil Parker is there...and the very elegant lady in the blue cape and ensemble. I'm not clear whether it was a uniform of some kind or just a spiffy outfit. Anybody know?

Some sort of nurses uniform..
There were a number of people in period costume, plus some steam-punk personages..
The G Scale Society, even had someone in a pink tutu... - Luckily, not the Hammer Fairy!
