Paul, what did you use as base under the track on your Gstadt station? Is it wood? My question is because you managed to screw your track. I tried to screw mine on cellular concrete but it does not stand too much manipulation.

I used pvc fascia board planks. They are 6mm thick so fine to screw track down to. The ones I used were dark grey. I do intend to ballast the station but instead of Postcrete I will use gardeners grit and dilute PVA glue as the Postcrete flakes off if it is too thin.

The battery powered Stainz had a run. First time it was charged up for more than 3 years.

I haven't cleaned the track for around 2 months, all locos have run well in that period even my "Billy" pictured. Mind you Billy has a power buffer installed.

The battery Stainz still has track pick up - but only to the smoke unit.

There are 6 x 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries in the cab which give a realistic top speed on the RC. There is a charging jack point under the cab floor with a three way switch. I can’t be doing with a following wagon that has to be coupled up to the loco.

The first running day proper yesterday here on the Wirral.
Predominantly U Class were on the roster with the usual Stainz numbers 3 & 4 in attendance.
Shots of each main station - Linz, Wieselburg and Gstadt plus a couple of random pictures

Yesterday was even better as the sun was shining. ÖBB 2091 and whizzy cranks on duty with goods and mixed trains.

I am inclined to agree......He loves his gradients and lead weights, remembering his last Garden Railway.

A few grimy shots of the Garsten shed at dusk with U Class and Stainz in the dim light.
