Plenty going on here Peter. A new gravel building and dedicated passing loop/ siding to serve it. All twelve Binnie skips have had their axles re-greased so they are back in action.
I have purchased a Deutz feldbahn shunter which will be transformed from blue to yellow plus a power buffer fitted in the cab for smooth slow running over points.
a few night time sessions too.73F99B51-1D08-4049-84A9-21CC332DD5CB.jpeg78126F5D-2352-4D23-9C19-F4F43F25BE20.jpegEA8F71D3-8BEE-44AB-95C3-70C1CC09437F.jpegCB89919C-8DEC-4EC0-8568-46D0A15AD112.jpeg58B23C96-D18C-48AE-9429-A793D3A04FCD.jpegAC434388-071A-4DE0-8237-E7DAF904AE61.jpeg765D50E3-B55B-4C76-8D50-87E747C7DB6C.jpeg8A9EB170-72F3-4C55-BBC1-B282B4EF1A75.jpeg39C25C23-5B60-4B69-B651-08F5E0DB4009.jpeg

I should have learnt by now never to underestimate you Paul. Nice lighting, is the gravel works scratch built? The leaves are a pain this time of year.

Yes the gravel works is 3mm foamboard. Needs some more work yet.
I have a leaf blower for the leaves, most of them have fallen now.

The diesel formerly known as Jonny is now Billy, yellow, power buffered and with glazed cab windows. His main role is to haul the Binnie skips from the gravel works around the LGB. 0DB8D773-CC2F-472D-8267-7593E0339351.jpeg

I always wanted this field Bahn loco in yellow. Obviously the power buffer is important with the very short wheelbase on this loco.
Tagged on a few random pics too. 8273876A-1DF8-4E72-80D3-4230AF36C909.jpeg7F866B83-FC33-4288-B993-541CA2CA62BB.jpegD1319058-9D83-4C36-B51F-A4B82D05559C.jpeg7B9BB173-D624-4439-B34A-F14F1323118C.jpeg250FA18C-120B-459B-A6A1-B4051B103973.jpeg

I missed out on some good snowy pictures this year as i had moved most of my buildings indoors for the winter. I will make sure they are well fixed inplace for next winter (so that should ensure we have now snow at all)

No snow here. We have a micro climate on the Wirral - rivers up both sides of the peninsular so it’s always slightly warmer.

Flood on the Gstadt line this morning though.

Now, one of the great model railway challenge layouts proved that you could run track powered trains through water - I'm not sure that anyone would be bold enough to try it with costly DCC though :oops:

In theory the central station should trip off as soon as the power is switched on - like it does when a loco derails and shorts out on a point.
I didn’t want tot test the theory though.

Gstadt station before the deluge.
Still needs to be ballasted.......

I think the point is that rain water should not cause a short circuit, but not understanding DCC or the properties of rain water, I don't know..

Well, it was pretty impressive watching a 3mm : 1ft scale train ploughing through standing water on the TV show and, I have to say, it astounded me that it worked.

I could understand an analogue G scaler chancing it, but you'd need to be wary of the water levels, as you wouldn't water going inside the chassis block because of odd bits of wiring inside.

P'raps we'll leave it for the TV shows :think::think:

Rainwater *might* be OK? - Rainwater is soft, but not necessarily pure. It depends on pollution levels, or how much of the Sahara is in it!

Theoretically, DCC should be better..
With DC there would be an electrolytic action, and the plating on one rail would migrate to the other.
DCC, being an alternating signal, should be immune to this.

Unless you do a lot of pulse - stretching analogue running! :nerd::giggle:

Wieselburg station is flooded today along with the lower section of the spiral and the line to Gstadt.
Easily the heaviest rainfall in this area for at least 6 years.

Does this mean you can test if DCC works under rain water ;)

But it’s not going to happen.
