I’m happier with the spiral now that I’ve got a proper bridge in place. The foam board arrived last week so that I can produce another Garsten engine shed as per the pic below.
I kept the doors off the old shed....

They are indeed Gizzy - possibly the longest serving wagons on the LGB.
Getting a bit battered now - missing uprights and missing grab handles.
They have also had the coupling hooks adapted with zip ties - the Hartland "springs" relied on the plyability of soft plastic which eventually hardened.
Metal wheels fitted as standard too.

I brought a few from the Conwy Model Shop when Mizzy and I were on holiday a few years ago.
We'd won a holiday on the Flying Scotsman a few years ago, so I brought 2 to put in my suitcase, and had the other ones posted on.
I've metal wheels on mine too, but I've not had to modify the couplings as yet....

The recreation of Garsten engine shed is progressing nicely.
I’m sure I’ve got some doors and windows in my spares box somewhere.
Need to get some paint for it next.
I’ve still got loads of track left from the indoor and outdoor layouts.
Will have to mull over where to extend the layout to.......

The domestic authority (Susan and me) have no problem with extending.
One thing I learned from LGB1 was that there is a point where if there is too much preparation involved before you have a running session, you run far less.
(weeds, leaves on the line, track cleaning, points maintenance, etc)
I have no desire to fill the whole garden with a railway - way too big !

Garsten shed reborn.
Ready for painting and weathering. Made from foam board like the last one except white not black.
