Hi guys,

I'm looking for an LGB Zillertal biere barrel coach/wagon - the one with the little alpine hut and the beer barrel on...

No rush - my daughter has seen it and said she likes it - I wondered if anyone had one they didn't use anymore and would consider passing on to a new home.

I've not got a very large budget, so will consider examples un-boxed and with minor cosmetic damage.

Please let me know if you can help me out :)

Cheers

James

Shop around for one of these, James - I've seen them go for frankly ludicrous money (£100+ in many cases), but then I got mine from a US forces chap in Germany (via German ebay, think he was was selling stuff before being posted back home) for about thirty quid!
If you're lucky enough to find one at anything under about £60-£70 I'd grab it with both hands.

Yes that is mine and there are lots of people watching it, whether they bid is another matter.

These cars are quite hard to find and I couldn't decide what was a reasonable market price to ask for so put it on ebay to see what people are willing to pay. I don't expect it will go for over £70 but you never know as some LGB collectors will pay silly money for something they want.

LGB did make a few novelty livery versions so you might find one of these at a better price. Since no one else has made much Austrian G scale narrow gauge bargains can be hard to find for items produced in smaller numbers.

Grootspoor have a 2nd hand one listed but it's at 99 euros (plus 22 euros postage).

Glendale 2nd hand section always worth a look on a regular basis. I picked mine up from them for £65.00, they've had two or three in since at around the same price. None listed at the moment but always worth checking back regularly.

From recent experience you might be better off in calling around the dealers that don't list second hand stock on their websites as there seems to be quite a few continental collectors who now regularly search British websites looking for bargains and snap them up quickly.

Thanks guys! As I say, it's not a burning need, something my 4 year old said she liked and her birthday is in July.

It's been in the catalog for quite a while hasn't it? Anyhow - my budget is no more than £50 so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled in the usual places but if someone has one un-boxed or lightly damaged they'd like to move on then please drop me a PM :)

James this has just come on ebay but new so will probably bust your budget but stranger things have happened......I won't be competing!

These don't come up on UK Ebay all that often, and the one Funandtrains had listed went for £82 + postage yesterday which i personally think is stupidly high considering them being around the £100 mark brand new. Still though, it ends midday on a monday so theres always a chance of people forgetting about it due to work

Tartare Sauce! Makes my £35 schoema look a real bargain.....I do follow ebay.de so if any cheap BIN's come up I'll post but it seems unlikely.

It isn't new. It says NEW on the box and has the old four figure LGB catalogue number, so obviously one of the first examples they made in 1992. So it is 20 years old.

I think the seller means "new" as in "mint boxed, unused" rather than a recently-produced item.

It could be argued that under the strictest interpretation of eBay's rules, you should list something as "used" even if all you've done is open the box to take a photo, but I think most folks are reasonably happy to take "new" in this context as meaning a mint condition example.
