LGB tram set on Ebay

I had already found this and have put in a decent bid on it. So far I have only managed to win one yellow two car set...the others I bid on all went for silly money, but then they are not cheap new and seem to be sought after.

The blue ones seem to go for silly money. Even the mouldings were getting high bids from Warenrich, so I gave up in the end.

Thanks for the warning, I will not expect to win this one then.
I am looking for trams to run round the railway, not 'collectors pieces' to hoard away as investments.

Cheapo ones to repaint will do me, although I will not repaint this should I get it.

If you want a rare tram go for the Austrian Manner tram of Oct 2006 one run of 500 units I think this will be a sleeper. Alyn

My initial bid of £101 has already been beaten with 6 days to go !
I didnt expect to get it for this, but will just sit and watch until the final hour now.

Do you know the catalogue number for the blue tram please Alyn?
Not only was I lucky enough to win the blue set, the chap also had a Red tram and Trailer, a spare yellow trailer and a Beige tram without a trailer (undecorated in LGB speak) which we came to an very good deal on, with without Ebay having a share. He even delivered them all himself by car.
I will join the queue for your Austrian special when you decide to part with it in the coming decades!
Best wishes Syd

[align=center]I always liked these trams but when I was looking at them i got put off by the prices, so I just look now, your set up at raglan looks very impressive I like the trailer cars and the setting you have there very nice

Hi Syd, the cat #20202 was a fairly small run, compared to the yellow or red sets. I have found some rareish runs first the Austrian red and white set with yellow lining and adverts, for Austria market made in the early 80's. Some versions for LGBofA clubs. Recent rare version was the cream FIRST RUN (LGB still going) of 2006 this had a red pantograph. Then the LGB 125 signed by Wolfgang Richter August 2006. I will find some pictures and post in a minute. Alyn

The first is for the Austrian market. The second photo is the two versions of 23355, the red pantograph and box illustration LGB 2006 (only one run), then the lyra bow version by Marklin/LGB. Third picture the red pantograph version of June 2006 (LGB). Alyn

Thank you Alyn.
I didnt realise I was going to have an LGB tram collection until last week, but I am very pleased with them. The cream tram I bought from this seller is like your photo with a red pantograph, same destination but fleet number 32 applied. It is mint, boxed and has all the unused stickers etc. I didnt know it was a less common example, and I dont think he did either. I will now be keeping an eye out for any others, but I fully expect the price to put me off as Steve says.
Best wishes
Syd

Syd, the way to tell the LGB versions from the Marklin ones besides the pantograph are the controls in the tram; LGB ones are gold coloured/plated,the Marklin are just black. Alyn ps the box? is it the same with the picture of the tram with pantograph? If it is hang on to it!!!!

The Weimar tram and trailer was another of LGB's sets. I motorised the trailer, and fitted a working headlight to the roof. Also a pantograph. Alyn

you know i too wondered why these things were always so pricey-

but since i have purchased some- i realize there are many parts

i have the Weimer and the Blue sets now and find them simply charming and enjoyable to run-

i believe some of these Siemens trams were also used in the US

love the yellow set but the prices are always high and the units very old

i only wish LGB had upgraded the lights on the newer models  to constant voltage

been thinking how to subsitute LEDs or lower voltage lamps so i can get that brilliant headlight look without chopping

i saw a you tube vid where someone had fitted working side turn lights!

so whats the deal with the stickers- coats of arms-
in the lgb sets
there only a pair per city -so no 2 can match in a set -was this correct?

i would think all trams in a given city had the same
then, i would have thought lgb would have the COAs in pairs for the sets

Steve, you got it in one! the LGB decal/label coat of arms set. The works chevrons, and the stadt strassenbahn stickers are the only items I use. I cut them out with a craft knife. Don't use the others. :wits: Alyn
