Hi all

Getting back into G gauge I have been trying to get items that need some work or are a bargain.
Recently a coach came up on ebay for just under £20 that needed some work so I thought id take a punt at.

It appears to be two LGB Toytrain coaches grafted together very well, it needs new bogies as it only had one which didn’t have a coupling, a repaint and some windows but essentially good.

Any suggestions on bogies would be Appreicated and also does anyone know if anyone does laser cut windows that could fit this?

Two other options come to mind, Bachmann do similar ones to those used by David and there are cheepo bogies to be had from Newquida Coaches.

I have used Toytrain 4-wheelers for several conversions into various bogie coaches, I have always used LGB 67380 bogies as fitted to LGB old tome Jackson Sharp coaches.
You can click on the attached links to see how I did it, it may give you some ideas

Absolutely brilliant David, out of Curiosity what radius curves do you have if any?

Im not planning to have a permanent railway until this time next year but would like to keep this and use it as a base for the radius I can use.

I do not have a layout of my own, but these coaches will easily negotiate R1 trackwork.

Cheers, my temporary oval has R1 curves so will see how it is.

Lovely conversions by the way.

I might give the Newquida bogies a go as a start.

Well the cheap Newquida bogies turned up today and quite honestly they don’t suit the coach.

Think a pair of LGB ones like David has done are required, if anyone wants to take the Newquida bogies off me for face value then drop me a message.

i’ve had the coach apart today and decided to give it a paint in blue.

whilst I await for new bogies I will continue on the rest of the work.

Thanks, its Humbrol Matt 25 Acrylic.

Idea is that the windows will probably get highlighted in either silver or cream and the coach may get a cream band but haven't decided yet.

Bit more work on the coach today, changed the colour which is now humbrol 14 French blue which is closer to the blue and cream coaches I already have.

Balcony handrails repainted black and the window frames a buff colour.

just waiting for my LGB bogies to turn up and then to start fitting those.

Well armed with a pair of LGB bogies, the wheels from the Newquida bogies and self isolation i cracked on with this today and fitted the bogies.

I think it’s come out okay, test will be to give it a run at some point.

Final detailing and glazing required and then I’ll be happy with the result.
