LGB spares - from Germany.

Last week I was looking for the glazing for a Schoema diesel loco cab - inexplicably busted. After seeing the prices wanted here in UK for the few LGB bits available, I went looking to the home country and found Modell-Land.de.

The glazing was not available by itself, but was in a cab unit, which won't hurt, as the old item has seen better days. The part, obviously brand new and in original sealed packaging, including priority shipping of eu3.16, cost just eu17.32.

I placed my order with them last Thursday evening, and the part came this morning.

THAT is exemplary service in MY book.

A Big thank you to Modell-Land.de -

10/10

I bought a Märklin OEM replacement pulsed smoke generator unit from Modell-Land.de last year. The cost was about a third less than I could find it or the Massoth equivalent anywhere else. A bonus was the fact it was the OEM part complete with all wiring in place so it was truly a plug in replacement. I too, received my order promptly even though it was shipped to the USA.

I concur with Tac and have absolutely no qualms also recommending Modell-Land.de !

I remain puzzled as to how THEY can do it, and few others can, or can be bothered, more likely...
I strongly suspect that it's dependent on the delivery service they choose as they should sort out any customs arrangements. Modell-land de. use Deutsche Post and DHL.
I haven't needed to purchase spares post brexit but I have had very good service from them prior to that.
Sadly the same can't be same for a similarly named outfit, modell-land-service.de

When living in Germany, Modell-land.de was my go to for most of my new purchases. I did a lot of scouring of German eBay (they have a lot LGB / G-Scale stuff) for second hand deals. I was never really bothered about minor damage or missing parts because I could always find them on ML.

What I always found funny were their shipping prices - in Germany, it was always €5.95. This was true when I ordered a new decoder which came in an envelope or when I made a large track order (ended up being 4 large boxes) - still €5.95 so get the monies worth ;)

I am trying, without success, to buy some spares from modell-land.de

I tried to register as a new customer, but UK is not on the drop down list of countries.

So, I have then tried the direct to PayPal link, but that just takes me to the shopping basket.
I have an iPad and have tried in both Chrome and Safari, could the iPad be a problem, do I need to use a friends PC?

Thanks
Ashley

No idea what the problem is -it's just about three week since I ordered, and got, a replacement LGB unit from them. I posted it all here, as well, after a contact recommended them to me. Excellent, fast and cheap shipping, too.

Thanks Tac, I’ve just tried on a Windows 10 PC, but still no joy, UK or England is not offered as a country to register as a Customer and the PayPal link just loops back to the basket.

Did you register as a customer or use the PayPal direct link ?

I have emailed Modell Land and will post an update when I get a response.

Best Regards
Ashley

As did I.

Same here. I've made several purchases from ML over the years, including a couple of large ones (locos) - it used to be that they didn't take Paypal, so I used to click on the items I wanted on their site and then they would send me an email invoice that I'd pay via Bank Transfer.
These days, like most others, they take Paypal which makes things much easier.

I'm not sure whether I'm registered as a customer with them or not.... :wondering:

One caveat is that I've not yet tried to order from them post-Brexit, so some things may have changed.

Jon.

I have just received a small order of spares, not registered as a customer, paid using PayPal. Received the spares within 4 days of placing the order. Great service.

Martin

I must be missing something then, as I have tried 3 different browsers on iPads and PC and cannot get the PayPal link to work.
I have only had an automated reply to my email so far.
Thanks for all the input, There is only 1 left of one of the parts I need, so fingers crossed I get an answer soon.

Unfortunately, for us in the UK, it’s party over…
At least I know I am not going mad now, but unfortunately the same is true of the Marklin / LGB spares shop.
So for the UK, we are going to need a helpful intermediary to obtain spare parts from now on.

Hello,

unfortunately we do not offer shipping to UK anymore.

Have a nice day and stay healthy.

I can’t blame them, it has become difficult to buy and sell from / to the EU.
I will try and stay healthy, but my locos still need parts.

Best Regards

Hi Ashley,

Give Peter at Chalk Garden Rail a call, he has managed to get me LGB spares in the past. Here is a link to his site: Home/Chalk Garden Rail

Sorry for your experience. I am registered with modell-land and I have bought spare parts from this year with no issues, It seems odd that they have stopped doing so. Other suppliers seem to manage. I ordered some components from Littfinksi (LDT) in Germany over the internet on Thursday, paid with PayPal, it was posted using Deutsche Post and it arrived this morning. It was below the £135 limit and it had the correct CN23 form attached.

it’s a shame but looks like its correct, on my account page when I try to check out it now says the below which translates to something along the lines of "Shipping method We currently do not offer shipping for this address."

I have just checked and concur. Not sure what has happened to prompt this as I received an order less than a fortnight ago
