Having seen the excellent thread on Locomotives and Trams, I wondered if there would be interest in the above. Here is your starter for 10 together with my usual waffle about what it is.

Back in 1976 I travelled to West germany to see big Steam trains on the Rheine Emden Line. Staying at Herr Bruns Gusesthouse which used to be the terminus Station Building for a narrow gauge Line. But I digress, after this we went to stay at a friends in Worms. On the Sunday he took me to the now sadly closed Museum in Viernheim on the OEG. For the unitiated that is a Tramway that runs from Heidelberg to Heidelberg via Weinheim and Mannheim. A Narrow gauge Tramway and still a great trip today even in Modern Tramcars. The LGB Steam Tram Loco No. 102 was based on a prototype from the Mannheim and I think that I have seen pictures of it on the OEG. Anyhow on another day we went to Heidelberg passing a Gravel Loading Point near to Dossenheim (I think) between Weinheim and Heidelburg. Here were located some of the very prototype OEG Hopper Wagons as seen below. Sadly I did not stop to take pictures on the day but resolved to do the OEG some time. By the time I did the Gravel loader was out of use. However some years even later when I did the OEG again (in 2007 for a Plandampf) I allowed a few extra days to explore Trams in the Heidelburg area. Thus I stopped at the OEG Depot at Edlingen between Mannheim and Heidelburg where I found the OEG Hoppers in the prototype picture.

They may look somewhat different to the LGB one, but I am sure that is what LGB used for their prototype.

I had always though that the LGB Toytrain vans were not a real type until I saw these two on the Val de Nuria in Spain. Copy of one of mine, though not in the same livery I am afraid.
