Some time ago I bought a couple of these at a Model railway Show, my idea was to make a Tramway Wagon and a longer wagon to equalize the Coupling Shanks on each wagon. This is the Bachman bit that started all of this, it is the Sideframe and Life Preserver from a Bachman Tram:-

Then that nice Mr Funandtrains was selling off some cheepie Toy Train Wagons (at a very good price), some went to the Ruschbahn but I kept these 3 for my use:-

So I finally got a load of other stuff off the workbench and attacked the chassis of the Tank and Van.

After an hour or so of careful cutting I ended up with this?-

Serious work then started on the part that was to have the 2 Short Coupling Parts. I then cut the Axle Guards off and joined the two parts that would take the Short Coupling Parts The parts had strengthening gussets of Plasticard ship added where possible to strengthen it off. Finally after allowing an overnight dry off and strengthening of the first joins the Tram Chassis bits were added with more Plasticard strengthening to get to this stage sans wheels, coupling, Vac Pipes and a body..

Not sure yet what I will do for the body, I will pour over WJK Davies Vicinal books to see what attracts. So it may be a while to wait for the next installment of this bodge. Then there will be the long chassis which I think will utilize the 2 van bodies, probably incorporating 2 verandas.

those side frames look very Brill type tramcar?
are these a standard moulding then? as I fancy a four wheel tram circuit to run around , I like all the lights in the dark!!

Intersting build Dunnymate!

What adhesive are you using to join the chassis parts together please....

Sorry not able to reply to you both earlier as I have been in Wales this week. The Tram chassis bit is standard from a Bachman Tram, I picked up two of the frames from a show somewhere at a quid each. I am using EMA Plastic Weld to glue it altogether, this appears to work fine on the LGB Toy Train Wagons. Hope this helps,

As highlighted in the first posting of this saga, I had wanted to have two vehicles, one with Short Coupling Shanks the other with Long ones. Both of matching length for each vehicle. I finally decided that I want two vans so both van Bodies will be used. Thus I cut out the Plastic in each van that is used for the Axle assembly pivot. The Long Shank position in one van and the Short Shank position in the other. The following Picture shows the relevant cuts, the Grey Wagon is the long Shank position and the Red one is the Short Shank one, yes I know that does not look correct but it is. The Grey wagon is the Veranda end, Red the Blind end. Both were cut 10mm in, 3 inches away from the end and a few mm in from the end to preserve that end. I think that the first pc should make all this clear.

Next I secured the Long Shank (Grey) into the Longer Chassis, using the existing LGB Skrew Holes and adding a couple more to secure to the wagon Body. The same was done with the Shorter Chassis Body. This Pic shows the work thus far:-

The insides were strengthened with some Plasticard of-cuts as shown here:-

In doing that the thread on storage was a great help in finding suitable bits:-

Thus giving the Long Van a head start as shown here. I will return to this van later as I wish to finish the Tramway van first.

The Short Tram Van emerge thus after fitting up the Shorter Pivots and securing the body to the chassis.:-

This van has been through the wars so a small repair strengthening piece as added to the end, you can also se from this pic that the van Body does not quite match up with the Chassis. More thinking required before the next stage.

The underneath and inside of this van have now look like this:-

Finally I just dumped the Tank Body onto the top of my Test track, buy a quirk of fate it landed on top of the other Bachman Tram Bit giving this thought provoking view. Perhaps a Tram Track washer could be made out of this?

So now I pretty well have a plan for my 3 vehicle bash.
