On my dining room table I have the following items;
Transformer 50110
Central Station 55006p
Switch 55025
Handheld with programmer insert 55015
One set of electric points

I connect a loop in the switch between the Prog connection
I connect the Brown wire of the module to the Blue “IN” and the white of the module to the Red “IN”.
I connect the Yellow wire of the module to the Black terminal on the transformer and the Green wire of the module to the White terminal on transformer.
I switch on the power and the programmer displays ....
C - -
I press II and the display changes to...
P - -
I press 1 on the programmer and the display changes to....
d –
I press 1 on the programmer followed by > and the display changes back to....
P - -
I switch off the power. Disconnect the loop and the programme module wires completely.
I connect the Orange and white wire of the points to the switch output “A”.
I connect Red and Blue of the switch “IN” to the central station Red and Blue terminal.
I connect the Black and White between the Transformer and the central station.
I replace the programming module with the normal module in the handheld and plug it into the central station last outlet.
I switch on the power.
Both the transformer and the central station are displaying a green light.
The handheld has only a red light showing.
I press F then 1 and the display shows...
5 –
I press 1.
I press either < or > and each time I press the 5 flashes off but nothing happens to the points.

Why doesn't it work?

I don't remember having to using the programming plug in to make alterations to the CVs with my own 55025?

I just put the loop in the prog terminals and did the necessary programming of CVs as required with out it.

I then removed the link and all worked fine.

BTW after you press F1, you actually get an S (for switches) rather than a 5, but the 7 segment display is the same for either....

Because when programming the 55025 you need at least one point motor connected to it. See the picture on page 11 of the 55025 manual.

Ah good point Pete!

You need a load on the decoder whilst programming it....

How can I test things? I have tried and tried all the guidance, all the manuals, and done it over and over again. Still it doesn't work.
I checked the ID and this was set to 2, the book says the default is 1 so changed it to 1.
In the manual 55025 page 10. at the end it says " to get feedback on the success of the programming, connect a switch drive to one terminal and set the switch drive rod to the undefined centre position, as soon as the programming is confirmed via the arrow button, the switch drive moves."
Well, mine doesn't move so something tells me I am not actually programming it?
Any ideas?

Well you are doing everything as you are supposed to.

has the switch decoder been working?

have you tried programming with the point motor on another output?

If you want to send it to me, I'll set it up for you using my LGB MTS-PC interface, for the cost of the postage.

I'll just need to know the CV addresses you want for your decoder.

Send me a PM if interested....

Same as Gizzy's offer if you're in striking distance of Malvern and fancy a day out instead of trusting Messrs Royal Mail.

Thanks Gizzy for you help - At least I now know the problem is not with the 55025.
With a working 55025 I wire up as per book to a test track and attempt to change points but to no avail. I put on a train and as the train is moving try to operate the points and the train stops. All the green lights on the central station remain correct but no longer able to send any data to the train. Only way to fix is to switch off power and start again.
Any Idea's? Must be the handheld? I have a 55015 handheld.

More likely to be the Central Station I think?

Is there anyone in the Devon area who could lend a Universal Remote to Rob to try, or who could let him visit them please?

I could get him to post his to me to test here, but if we can do it a bit cheaper....

I thought I would update the post with the outcome. After a long and drawn out process it was finally resolved as a problem with the universal remote. It was unable to programme although it operated correctly. I had both the central station and the programing remote tested by Hornby. The central station was replaced as it kept over heating, but never thought it also affected the remote. I await the return of the item to get it working. I have since reworked the layout slightly in readiness for a new line! I might model it on the same story line going around Devon as the re-opening of the line between Okehampton and Tavistock. Since I live in Okehampton that would do nicely! Thanks for everyone you offered support.
