LGB 55016p - Won't work on R/C...

I've just gone to try a purchase from todays show - An LGB 55016p, it'll work fine when plugged in on the cable, but will not power up on batteries in R/C mode. Both the batteries and R/C head are known good as they worked on my 55015p. The battery terminals look OK as well. The other R/C head I bought has been found to be dead, got very hot when plugged in before trying the other head... Any ideas before I send them back to the supplier?

We had similar problems intermittently and it turned out to be a dry joint on the battery holder, taken apart and fixed as it was way beyond warranty. If it's bought as new I'd talk to the supplier first though.

All the parts are second hand, but sold with a small warranty. Will double check the solder joints before it goes back. I was thinking there cant be much wrong if it works on the wire. The second r/c head is def going back thou...

So after taking it apart to check, didn't really find anything obviously wrong, rebuilt it and its come to life under battery. Although it has switched itself off a few times. Thinking a loose connection

Yep sounds like it, I could get mine alive by tapping it, couldn't see a problem but I re soldered all the joints on the battery holder and it's been fine since.
