LGB 40520 DR Red Baggage Car

Thank you to all of you:

Philp

for your help/assistance and making me aware. I bought one from ebay mike who even posted it to me first class and it arrived the next morning less than 24 hours after messaging me.

Unfortunately I missed the ebay item and yes, it was a good price. Might have been tempted to have bought another, but Dunnyrail of this parish visited me this afternoon and my mind is now focused on purchasing an LGB 2=6=2 Harz loco..................Oh Gawd...............£££££££££

I won't offer to look in the garage at this stage Paul, you need some recovery time.

Philip,

Is this gonna go round radius 1 curves then. Is this from your collection or an ebay item?

Paul
It'll do R1 curves due to its articulated chassis, but it does look odd doing so....

ALL LGB will go round radius one. - It is the law! ;)

A little bit of a tease.. It is one of a number of 2-10-2's stabled on the layout formerly known as the Shades of the Harz..
This is now 'slumbering' above Chasewater Heaths Station, on the Chasewater Railway in Staffordshire.

I had a slight hand in saving the layout, and blood, sweat, tears, more blood, in making it fit in the space we had available.

I could lay my hands on several, and until a little earlier this year, even one by Aster/LGB. - If you need to ask, you can't afford one of the Aster's!:eek:

Funnily enough.. Having not been onsite for a very long time, I will probably have sight of it on Wednesday evening..
I'll see if I can get some pictures. - Most mine are not easily available.

That would be good Philip. Do they also have an LGB 2-6-2 Harz loco which might be more in keeping with my small garden railway and radius 1 curves.

Thanks,

Paul

So will this and also looks a little silly. Sadly it's DB not DR.

I will check with the 'Shedmaster' whilst there.. - I do know he has reduced his fleet somewhat..

My Harz 2-10-2 was purchased when my old line in Hemel was still on the go. And yes it went round R1 but looked so silly doing so I changed the guilty torture curves into R2 Even having to demolish a part of a Concrete Mountain in one area to make them fit. Not good for Paul with his R1 and he would be horrified by the price, the Ballerina is probably the best bet but a 20761 also has Harz credentials. Of course a 0-4-4-0 mallet or sachen Meyer would work nicely on his line. I used a Sachen Meyer for many years to represent the Harz Mallets till the TL ones came along.

Thanks Jon for your advice. I agree that a 2-10-2, as nice as it is, would look silly going round my tight curves.

My favoured locos would be the Harz 2-6-2 and the 0-4-4-0 mallet. I will keep a look out and might put an appeal on here. Forgive my lack of knowledge, but how can I identify if a loco ran on the Harz lines in the DR period.

Paul

I think on reflection that a 2-6-2 wheel arrangement might be more in keeping with my tight curves
You could also look at the Rugens 0-8-0 loco.

I have one of these as well as a Harz 'Ballerina' 2-6-2 and they look fine on the R1/R2 curves on my layout....

Thanks Gizzy. I will consider a Rugens 0-8-0, though the Ballerina 2-6-2 is my top choice..............so far LOL.
