I bought one of these last Thursday at Glendale Jcn. Probably could have got it Cheeper elswhere, but as I have Kitty at Glendale. Plus it was one of those object of desire purchases. Cost £159.

As bought it has all Metal Wheels and a superb Red and Creme Paint Job. The lettering is I assume as at the Museum Line. The Lettering on the side `Fur Traglasten` so far as I can ascertain from Google Translate means For Loads. Hmm must be a better meaning than that. In the box there were two extra Hooks so that both ends could have Hooks and a spare set of all the bits and bobs. Also a set of Cosmetic Couplings. Other than that not a lot to say, I had a Green Variation of this that I sold and probably contributed to this one.

Why did I buy it? Well it as I said was an object of desire, but my Standard is Red and Creme. This one is a bit different from my other Carriages. So it is nice to have a different shade of Red and Creme running around. Plus it is a different body, though I have 3 or 4 Newquid ones that pretty much match this. But well not the same quality. The Harz Line did get a few Sachen Type 750mm Coaches with the same sloping Roof as this. Not sure how they were used, though I believe one hung around for a while on Metre Gauge Bogies which is my excuse for running it on my line.

A few pictures taken today on Test Runs. The set with it is a rarely used one with the Shorty Red Van as the Guards Riding Van/Office in it. I think that the differences in this set make an interesting if unusual Train.

Lovely coach Jon, quite fancy one of these myself. Traglasten is baggage, so I think the sign indicates a baggage compartment.

Ah that makes a lot more sence now. What an interesting and strange language German is.

No special dedicated bagage compartment. Tragen means carry so Traglasten is bagage you can carry into the cabin as in the aircraft.

So would it infer 'Hand baggage (luggage) only' then?

yes

Just walked 80ft down the Garden and 80ft back to look at the Coach in the Shed. Probably should have mentioned this in the review. Area of first Window on the left of first pic has Inwards Facing Seats. Next is the Loo with the White Window, rest is seating Knee to Knee facing Direction of Travel or the other way. The 'Fur Traglasten' is the White Sign at the left of this pic so is presumably the area refered to by this. Fascinating stuff. Why would you say Hand Baggage only at one end but both sides the same end?

Ooh nice.

Now I`m a big fan of red n cream paint-jobs on Newquida stock (as you can see), but I`d definitely go for one of these even with a £159 price tag.

It`s a lovely piece of stock.

Gareth,
Very nice, you will not regret the purchase. Though your Credit Card might!

At least yours will be pulled by the correct loco. I did have Black and Green LGB Sachen Meyers. Used them as Harz Mallets till the Trainline ones came along. Flogged the LGB Sachens at Glendale to help fund the Trainline ones. A decision I will never regret, as good as the KGB Meyers were.

I keep trying to decide whether the '750mm' refers to prototypical gauge, or length of the model!
??? ::) ;) :D ;D ;D

750mm Gauge, approx 2'6" or pretty much the same as the Welshpool, which is why they have Continental Locomotives and Coaches. The thought of a Sachen Meyer or 2-10-2t blasting up the hill at Golpha Bank. Stuff of dreams.

2-10-2 on the WLLR ... ??? ;D
I think clearance might be an issue! ;)
Would 'the S's' be equivalent to R1 do you think. - Though I believe they have eased this section a bit??
Would the river bridge take a 2-10-2??

Now, what about a subscription photo-charter to get one over here?? ;) ;) ;)

Remember that great lump of a 2-8-2 they had. I reckon it was probably bigger than the Sachen type 2-10-2`s. They have very dinky wheels and are quite small. I am not thinking of those monsters on the Harz, which in any case are Metre Gauge. Couple if pics of the baby 2-10-2`s

Both taken on the Rugen Isle in 2011.

They do also get round some pretty tight curves. Weight well spread over a longish wheelbase.

This would make a really good model for LBG to make. Wouldn't even hesitate to buy one of those. The Harz ones are nice but not as good as those.
