Cooky,
(Sorry, not sure of your given name)
People are trying to be helpful.
I am of the opinion the broken component is the audio output transistor. - You say everything else works?

So far, I have not seen makers marks on the pcb, and you have been asked about markings on the broken component.
From the picture we have, it does look as if (at least) the remains of the labelling on the component is present.

A close-up of this, in the best focus you can manage, would be very helpful.
We can then make a stab at identifying the component, and give you an idea of the cost of a replacement.

Annotated circuit diagrams, for any of the LGB (or Massoth) units, are not in the public domain, so we have to go by comparison, and what we can see.

Also, some of us are still working, or looking after family members (or even just have a life).

If you can provide a decent photo, I will continue to offer help and advice.

PhilP

The third picture you posted, with you holding the broken part in your fingers.

Can you take photos of all sides please, the side with the dome head screw is what I think we need to see.

I concur with PhilP. You have broken a transistor. That is the small black plastic part screwed to the large metal part which is a heatsink.

We need a good in focus photo of the writing on the black plastic part before we can advise any further....

I have said this once, but I will say it again, look at The Shed The Shed picture post #47 which appears to show the detached part attached to a similar board.

If you wait for PhilP to get back to you, I'm sure he'll be able to assist.

Are you ordering the part from Ebay yourself....

I can add the part to an order I am about to send in, if liked?

Will take this to Personal Messaging, to exchange contact details..

If it is just a case of swapping the part, the repair should be relatively easy..
If 'something else' is also faulty, then it might be a different matter.
Certainly worth the cost of a transistor and a bit of postage to find out..

As before, we are at the hospital everyday, but will update the thread with results.

PhilP.
