Hi all,
I am trying to get in touch with Terry at SSP down under in Australia does anyone know if he is still making slomos
despite several emails and long waits between I have been unable to contact him to place an order. I have used alternative email vendors too should the spam filters decide my request is spam, any help would be appreciated.

It is only Tony (of this parish) who seems to want to talk to us? :(

Friend of mine got a Lady Anne SloMo back end of last year and he was advertising in the recent 16mm Society Mag so perhaps he is snowed under or taking a long holiday?

His website is still there. Perhaps he is having a mid winter holiday somewhere a little warmer. It's been a bit nippy down under lately in the bottom states.

I would like to know if the Lady Anne Slo-mo will fit a Silver Lady, or does the suspension create a problem.

I watched his video on fitting it to a Countess and thought it very comprehensive.

Terry has been having trouble with his info@ email address and has lost many messages in the ether. Try emailing him at: terry@smallsteamperformance.com.au

Below is a video of installation to a Lady Anne.
It looks like the slomo floats on the driving axle and has a central slot that locates on the centre axle, therefore not hard mounted to the chassis. I would imagine as long as the slot lets the unit twist a little as the rear axle may do, there should be no problem with the Silver Lady having suspension. Best to ask the expert though.

Received a Slo Mo in Feb for LAnne. Yes seemed some delay in emails but got through eventually. Fitting was very straight forward. Beware though, having fitted my LA with this device my other live steam locos now seem completly inferior! My experience is that they absolutly transform the way the loco drives and performs particularly if combinned with a Summerlands Chuffer.

There is the issue of working the steam engine much harder to get things wizzing around in the slomo, therefore prematurely wearing it over time. They do move far more realistic though and have a much better bark with chuffer.

Regular oiling helps slow down the wear. The parts that wear on a round house loco are fairly easy to get and don't cost too much. Will worth fitting a Slomo

??How many steam loco's get to run often enough to start wearing out??

I ask, as it takes years to wear-out an LGB loco to the point of needing to change parts..

I know there are many sliding surfaces etc. But to my untutored (in steam) brain, there always seems plenty of lubrication around a live-steam model..

There is no evidence to show that it increases wear by any significant amount. You could argue that as the loco generally runs at a slower speed, the wear is actually less. I think because of the slower speed, the loco actually covers less miles per fill. I do not find I use any more steam or that the regulator setting is any higher with a slomo. It pulls the same weight of train and spends more time coasting. I have five Roundhouse locos with slomos and generally run them once a month. The oldest loco is 20 years old, 17 of those without a slomo. The coupling rod holes have worn, but it makes no difference to the loco and I have not yet had to replace any motion parts on any of them. If I eventually have to, they are cheap and easy to replace, but the slomo performance makes such a significant difference to the loco performance, that I would now never run one without, regardless of any downside.

Terry was in attendance at the Southern Highlands Steam Up in Mittagong last weekend displaying his wares. He may not be home yet.
