That's where I'm at, not so good at things being perfectly to scale, but getting better at 'artistic impression' I can't use an airbrush, and often get bored with sanding....

A newbie here, maybe, but certainly no novice. I like the 8T Climax. I've been thinking of doing a vertical boilered loco and yours provides lots of ideas. Thanks for posting - first of many, let's hope!

I've only got 8 or 9 projects in various stages of completion at the moment -- sometimes the muse bites hard and you just HAVE to go off on a tangent before you forget.

This will be a wainwright's, I'm working on the forge tonight...

This used to be a cast metal toy

These were panel trucks, I'm working on a third

A 1911 Buick A-2 built from parts of other diecast toys

Another ex panel truck

A 1:16 scale threshing machine

And a live steam well drilling machine

Being on disability means I have lots of time, but little spare money

Part of my huge amount of industry is my sister talked me into doing a layout at our local antique machinery club. Except she wanted circa 1925 and my current layout is circa 1958. Pre-depression vehicles are scarce as hen's teeth, except for delivery trucks. She also wanted a couple local hysteric, err historic, buildings to add interest.

Other than that, I just enjoy building stuff that interests me. I spent two hours last night trying to make a blacksmith's forge and have it look acceptable. Then got two dozen wagon wheels and some horses in the mail today.... Guess I won't be bored this weekend

As for 'prolific', those are the last year's worth of project, well most of them. Some projects take 3 or 4 months to complete, others, like the Studebaker sedans, only take an evening or so. A couple good photographs and a clear idea in your head of what you want to do and how to get there, and you're off.....

Hi Mik,

That maker's picture in your Baby Climax building log is spot on. In fact it's the one I was going to use as inspiration before the computer managed to delete it somehow. Nice to see it again. I'll definitely have to have a go now. I have an LGB OTTO which could be stripped down to the motor block, or there's a motor bogie on eBay at present.

To help me decide which to use, what wheelbase is your loco, please?

The wheelbase of the Climax is 4-1/2". The length of the body is 7-1/4" (8-1/2" to the coupler faces). The height is 5" to the peak of the roof, 6-1/2" to the top of the spark arrestor. Cab width is 3-1/2", but the handrails and steps make it 4-1/2" at it's widest...

My metric converter is asleep, but I hope those help
