It's Raining Garratts

My anti-virus hasn't picked up anything dubious about their website :think:

Well the pictures are obviously not of an 'LGB / Aster' model.

So I am assuming that they are after pre-orders for special builds?

A bit of a leap of faith, not having any idea as to what standard the model will be built.

Interestingly, from the red listing, if I select the 'Sellers other items' only one item comes up?

I can't see anything on the Marklin/LGB or Aster's website regarding such a proposed model.
If the seller is commissioning the build, it is not really an LGB/Aster is it?

Well, LGB/Aster made the 1:22.5 NG/G 13, the original, then Swiss owned, prototype now resides at the Vale of Rhiedol. However the Welsh Highland Railway only have NG/G 16's (& an NG/G15 Mikado). So are these "freelance" repaints of the original LGB/Aster model or factory lash ups ? Max

I need someone with a better grasp of German..
The website seems very complex for a scam, and supposedly over 2000 transactions, by this seller.

I don't know who would have the Aster (or would they be LGB) drawings for the original model? - Guessing possession being nine - tenths of the law.

An interesting development, if it is actually happening..
But I would be miffed if I bought one, and it was not of an equivalent quality to the LGB/Aster.

If nothing turned up, or was nothing like the original, whose side would EvilBay be on?

I suppose somebody could check things out with these guys if they were interested

Well he's got good feed back, if it's genuine, but does the Welsh Highland Railway know someone is flog6of their locos?

Accucraft UK, and the other incarnations worldwide, seem to state they are now the sole distributors of Aster products in the UK and those territories. However, Aster's, apparently upto date Japanese home site, Aster Hobby Japan seems to indicate otherwise. Or at least the status of importer as opposed to distributor. Confusing. Max

The eBay seller's website doesn't seem to have any mention of these proposed garratt models either as far as I can see even though they state their website on the eBay listing.
I suspect they may have a gaggle of second hand LGB/Aster garratts that they propose to refurbish to customer order requirements regarding colour. That is the only thing that makes any sense here. They don't seems to say that in their eBay listing though and I can't read the German language.

Aster & Märklin Metall Lokomotiven

Tricky to find, but see MTS Vorbestellungen

Despite being in the "Pre-orders" section, apparently available in "3-5 working days"

(They also think the WHR is in England!)

Cheers

Google translation for convenience:
WHR - Garrat Steam Locomotive Red Brown - Exclusive Model MTS 9500002 This Exclusiv model was built on the basis of the LGB 20922 Garrat steam locomotive. The locomotive was painted and labeled according to the prototype. In addition, the model was equipped with a Zimo sound decoder. For this purpose, the sound designer Heinz Deppen from Zimo was personally at the start in England at the WHR to record the sounds of this unique steam locomotive. 5 Pulsed evaporators are the highlight of this steam locomotive. In addition to the pulsed evaporator in the vent, each cylinder blows out according to the vapor output. Let your model disappear in the steam with the steam venting state and a suitable sound. Another highlight is the mounted electric uncoupler as well as a grate fire and a boiler fire. With its digital system, additional sounds can be called up. This model is only available in small quantities and comes in a matching wooden box.
