I run only Live Steam.I already own Accucraft,Roundhouse with RC ,Regner, and HO Locos. Is there such a Loco 45mm that can run on 45mm LGB Track 13x7 Oval on a Table? Also, within that Oval there is a 12x6 HO oval. I would love a Loco with more than the basics such as Johnson Bar, RC, Lubricator with Drain cock,Pressure Gauge,Water sight glass. Is there any other in 45mm with more features as going larger scale is not an option anytime in the near future?

You do not state which Roundhouse and Accucraft live steamers you have, that you might be benchmarking off. Or the radius of the curves on your table top layout, LGB R1 ? However, any of the Roundhouse, or any other make for that matter, 0-4-0 type locos should handle an LGB R1 when set to, or available as, 45 mm gauge. Even an 0-6-0, with "blind" centre drivers should manage. My 2-6-0 + 0-6-2 Garratt, with those blind centre drivers, will negociate a 5' diameter curve. What more beyond the "basic features" list, those are pretty comprehensive in themselves. Max

Roundhouse Engineering Co. Ltd. Roundhouse state minimum radius for each loco. Most features you want are available on all models. There are some specialists, e.g. DJB, who offer coal fired conversions for some of these and steam whistles and sound enhancers. There are also business's who offer enhancements for detailing to individualise your loco. Take look down this list Useful Links - Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers . Trying to remember the name of the big 16/15 mm trader in US.

A gentleman with Knowledge thank you.I own a Roundhouse Billy with RC an Accucraft Ruby an Accucraft Forney a couple of German made Locos A couple of HO Locos all 45mm track 13x7 foot Oval layout.

Thank you yes they do, but I was considering more upgraded expensive logos for my layout that would work with more bells and whistles on the locomotives

Ah yes, you mentioned that. Well I'm sure the brands you mention have several models where the added features are either standard or optional.

For instance, I have a Regner Emma that has a water gauge, pressure gauge, lubricator, electric lights, Radio Control, and a very loud whistle.
The RC controls speed, direction, and the whistle.
Officially the minimum radius for this locomotive is 600mm, so just under two feet, but mine pulls a dozen empty wagons through a 422mm curve without missing a beat.

Ah, bells and whistles (quite literally). Some suppliers are doing sound cards that are aimed at the live steam market. They have bells and whistles and even a chuff. Can be operated from the same handset used to control your loco, just press buttons on the TX. A problem with steam operated whistles is they need quite a blast to warm up and give a good "toot toot". So, a loudspeaker based solution could be more desirable and that speaker can be quite small and hidden on the loco. Also, as you are US based a bell sounding is essential if you are in the yard or station, isn't it ? A little scale bell won't cut it :giggle: PhilP on here at RC Trains is marketing one. Contact him on the forum or here RC Trains contacts Max

P.S. Forgot to mention. There is a company that have started offering operating draincock conversions for 15/16 mm locos. Again the name escapes me.

MyLocoSound does a sound unit for live steam locos which is operated by a spare r/c channel. It can contain multiple soundtracks which are triggered by a button on the r/c controller. Normally whistles are loaded onto the micro SD card it uses but there is no reason why you could not mix whistle and bell sounds. If you have two spare r/c channels then one could be used for the whistle and one for the bell. More information is at Live Steam Whistles. They cost around thirty pounds in the UK and are available from Fosworks and Micron.
