Is LGB track dishwasher safe?

I have quite a few lengths of filthy second hand LGB track, and was thinking about hosing it down and then popping it into the dishwashwer.

Is this safe? - i.e. do you think the plastic sleepers would stand up to it?

From a different safety aspect, I'd make sure it was done while MrsM was out shopping!

The track may be OK but I don't think much of your chances of surviving if you try.

The track will stand up to it, not sure about the appliance though. Tip, remove all locomotives from track!

I can confirm it is jet wash safe?

A few years ago my garden got covered in sewage, after a mains blockage.

Anglian Water's contractor cleaned up my garden and also hosed the track down for me.

Layout ran fine after the deep clean....

I've put coaches in the dishwasher that were filthy i picked up cheep,

Not sure I would want to eat off the 'crocks' though..

Seriously, if you give it a 'rinse cycle', or whatever after (not effluent enough to have such a device). I guess you will be fine..

There was a letter in the US Garden Railways magazine many years ago. This bloke took his track up every year & put it in the dishwasher.
If the track is that dirty I think I would prefer the pressure washer.

Yes you can I used to do it all the time with used track that I bought. but honestly if it's that dirty it doesnt really do the job! needs to be in the bath tub with a good stiff brush............................

Sorry but why worry if it is dirty? Looks much better than the shiny sleepers when new. Give me good old dirty second hand track that has been outside for a few years any day.

I agree. And with a LGB track cleaner loco (=expensive brillo pad/scourer/emery paper ) why bother? I prefer the "aged" look, personally,as long as there is a good clean electrical contact on the top...

I don't think it's microwaveable though....

For the record, I go for the "weathered" look as well, although that's as much from an inbuilt laziness as it is from the appearance perspective; life is too short to take up track and put it through the dishwasher!

And, if there was to be a competition, this would probably win the "today's strangest thread title" prize

In the general run of things, I much prefer the weathered look too...

...but I wanted to use a small amount of the dirty track inside to extend my storage sidings, and the original sidings still look shiny and new.

What would happen if I pushed twice ?

My dear chap, have you not got a butler to do these things for you ? Dishwasher indeed ! How frightfully non U. Toodle pip, Max.

On the plus side a lot of dishwashers are cheaper than LGB track cleaning loco's, but not as versatile.
