Is G1 track compatible with G scale?

Has anyone tried using Peco SL-800 (200 code rail) instead of the narrow gauge look SL-900 code 250 rail? There's some of the former on e-bay...
I'm running Accucraft and IP stock, with a couple of Bachman bogies; I'm guessing there might be problems with the wheel flanges hitting the sleepers.
 
You're quite right!
G flanges are nominally 3mm deep, while G 1 are considerably less.
The root of the flange is also thicker in G.
That said, some guys seem to get away with it, at least to some extent.
Since G1 is essentially standard gauge, the sleeper size and spacing is smaller than G.
 
As Rob says re flanges , My Lgb runs happy on this track a couple of the older wagons had to be re wheeled but that would have been done anyway
 
You might actually get away with it with the Accucraft (assuming it's British?) and IP stock, but the flange depth of the Bachmann wheels may be an issue. Don't know if your railway is indoors or outdoors, laid on the ground or on baseboards, but bear in mind that the garden narrow gauge scales tend to use deeper flanges and track to suit for a reason. Irrespective of the wheels clearing the sleepers, you may experience more frequent de-railments.
 
The line is outside, and the section I want the track for is raised; and then there's the matter of mating 200 code track with 250 code points. Sleeper spacing is probably not an issue as I'm modelling the Isle of Man Railway, and it will be heavily ballasted. I think I may hang fire, though: better to get the right thing rather than the cheapest thing!
 
I've seen some Bachmann stock running on code 200 track, well perhaps more correctly running on the chairs! So I'd say code 250 might be safer if you have some Bachmann stock.
 
As said, LGB will be ok as the wheel coning helps. Bachmann wont be as the wheel face and flange are flatter. Ive used tenmille gauge 1 track in the past with no issues but think the peco rail more shallow.
