I have done it, before...

I'm a tram enthusiast and have made trams Scale G
Country flag
... my ksw trailer is not finished. (Forgot these word)

Once I saw a 4-axle tram like these.

In my dreams I always wanted a 4-axle tram. But I did not know how to build the bogies with the motors. So my idea came up to build one, like this simple drawing.

I already had one LGB tram without any running equipment. Than a tram driver gave me an other one nearly complete, also without the running things. And it was in a bad condition. Ideal fro scratch building. In that status it slept in my workshop for nearly 1 1/2 year..
48675-wsw-modell-4achse-01.06.2013.jpg

Only a side panel with a new door has been made.

Later I got another LGB tram, but with a wrong motor underneath. The owner has changed a trailer into a motorcar and used a motor from the American Trolley tram. So I had a motor for my 4-axle car in stock. Than I saw the following tram on Ebay.

So I did a bid on it and won it. First of all I set up a test track, to see how it is running. Perfect! But in my eyes it was a very simple make of.

Very fast I decided to use my own made one goes back just to be only a trailer.

It had also a test run on my layout, during the event at the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke. It looks good, but not perfect. The "new" motorcar will be specified.
56898-modellbau-wsw-ausstellung-tw-22.11.2014.jpg

That means, shorten the body in the middle section, it will be an 8 windows car. The front ends will be changed. The roof has to undergo the new measurements. Normally I said, that I will finish two other projects first. But I wasn't able to resist. So I started tests with it. I dismantled all the different parts, to see, how it was made.

Than I shorten the two bodies. Brilliant, looks even much better. Than I decided to build new front end with a new window and a new door on both sides.

The new platform came to the model. Drivers control stand is temporary fixed, to stabilise the front.

That's all for today. Until the 23rd I will work on the other end. Than it has to wait. Hopefully in February I can wokr againon it.

Looks very nice...

Nice conversion but I love the top pic.

Excellent! :)

Yes, your work certainly improves the appearance of the tram and I look forward to seeing more of it.

a fantastic build, i tip my cap to you sir 8)

Excellent stuff ! I have a two body conversion looking remarkably like the red one in the 'before' shot. I've managed to ignore it for 10 years but this is rekindling my enthusiasm

So the next step has been done.

56929-modellbau-4-achser-tw-20.12.%5D2014.jpg
The second front end has been made. To stabilize the front ends they have got a roof. Later a second roof comming to it.

56932-modellbau-4-achser-tw-20.12.%5D2014.jpg
For the motor boogies I used the old aluminium traverse. It had to shorten. But so I van use the old motors for that.

56930-modellbau-4-achser-tw-20.12.%5D2014.jpg
The original roof will be used, but for the new front ends I'm thinking about making a complete new roof-

Hi Ross, try it here. (sorry only in German)

The roof for the front ends been made.

56933-modellbau-4-achser-tw-23.12.%5D2014.jpg

Both roofs will have a headlight. There was no time left to finish it.

56935-modellbau-4-achser-tw-23.12.%5D2014.jpg

Also I could'nt shorten the Roof in the middle.

56936-modellbau-4-achser-tw-23.12.%5D2014.jpg
Resistor casees will be added between the pantographs.

And now it's Christmas time. No works allowed! ;D May be on Saturday I have a bit fredom to work on it.

Merry Christmas.

Now that´s what I call a big tram :)

I had a good start after christmas. And it was snowing the hole day. All plans had been cancelled. A girl friend had to go to the vet with her guinea pig. She has no car. And the vet's in Wuppertal where all closed. So we had to go in an other town. It was 7 years old. It didn't make it. Took me 4 hours off, of working on an Occre London tram and my tram. Later my scouts came in and they made a movie night. Ok. No tram working on that day. I left them with "Lord of the rings". Next morning I was envited for breakfast. During the night, the temperature went down. I couldn't start my car. battery down! Breakfast gone. Sunday. No shop open. So in the end after a hour 3 men pushed my car until the engine started. I went to my scouts, no coffee there. I took my batterey on a charger. Thought that the movie has finished. No! hasn't. They asked for an other 3 hours. Said yes. - No working on my trams. They cleaned the room. Took all my tools in my car and brought it to the youth centre where I'm workin voluntary. Ocer X-mas until the 5th January it is closed. I checked the letterbox and I've a yes for using the work shop there. Start to work on my tram. By round about 8-ish I want to go home. My friend from Stoke on Trent came also to the youth centre. I used my radio controled key to unlock my car. Nothing! My car has only one keyhole. I sued my key, could'nt get in the keyhole. - Frozen!!! Car locked! Cold!! WEnt back to the youth centre, Took one of my gasligther and try to warm uo my key. - Gas empty! No extra can for gas. Found a lighter in the kitchen, Empty! Oh there are some matches. They worked. In the end I managed to get in my car.

Next morning . Bought a new battery, and changed it. Drove to the centre and began to work. First if all started with am Occre London tram. When the glue had to dry I worked on my 4-axle tram.

56936-modellbau-4-achser-tw-29.12.2014.jpg

Made a middle door, to stabilize the window frames at this point.

56939-modellbau-4-achser-tw-29.12.2014.jpg

The roof section is now in the right measurement.

57106-modellbau-4-achser-30.12.2014.jpg

I tried my airbrush again. So the inside of that car is paionted now. But have problems with the airbrush now. It blocked even when I cleaned it a serval time.

57107-modellbau-4-achser-30.12.2014.jpg

That's it for today. Have to see, what happens tomorrow.

One good news to the end. On our local radio station they offered 3 x 2 free tickets for the brass band Berlin on the 31.12.2014. I rang them, Normally I never ever win things. But 15 minutes later I've got a phon call. Won to tickets. Fun for 2 hours. ;D

I like the idea of the middle door Peter. My twin conversion has the split window pillar as well and it is definitely a weak spot. Good thinking :) :) :)
Now to try and find the bulkheads from the original conversion....

Hope with a new battery, and then winning the tickets your luck is changing for 2015. you deserve it.

Have a good New Year! And keep the flow of news on your builds coming.

At the moment I'm working more on a London LCC tram kit from Occre, but there is such a lot to fill with putty and sanding afterwards. And that needs a long time to dry. In that phases I got back to my other work places.

57109-modellbau-4-achser-04.01.2015.jpg

A simpl thing was the headlamp collar. It was made from one of my LGB work trams. I had shorten them for these models, so I had those rings in my recycling box.

57108-modellbau-4-achser-04.01.2015.jpg

4 new stands for the pantograph have been made to the roof. And some assesories came as well to it.

57110-modellbau-4-achser-04.01.2015.jpg

Also four resistor cases I had started to build. They need sideboards with curvex, so these fix on the round roof part.

After three day of laying in bed, with emergency stops at the toilet I felt a bit better and it was snowing! So I used it for a walk through the city and took photos of the Schwebebahn. Than I had an idea. Went to the work place where my trams are stored. Put some tracks out and stick them together, just onto the snow. It is not the perfect layout. But after 30 minutes I managed to run the trams for a bit of fun. People walked nearby where laughing about me. Yes I was like a kid. It was the first time for my trams running in snow. The underground is weaky and not stable. But for a bit if fun it worked.

57189-modellbau-schnee-24.01.2015.jpg

So that was it. Neighbours walking nearby laughed about me.

Than I went into the building and made a chamomile tea, comes together with a dry piece of bread. Urrrghhh! Than I finished the second buffer for my tram.

57194-modellbau-4-achser-24.01.2015.jpg

After that I went home and had a good sleep. I still feel a bit powerless but better always.

And the 4 axle tram is growing again

57210-modellbau-4-achser-14.02.2015.jpg

With spare parts from ebay, I build the braek system. (Ok it looks like)

57209-modellbau-4-achser-14.02.2015.jpg

The roof and the chassis frame had been painted.

For the body I need an idea how to paint it. I tried some different colours on my computer. Here is one:
57210-f-blau-beige.jpg

If you have a choise for me, please let me know. The trailer will have the same coat like the motor tram-

Still coughing Peter

So, I found out my failures about using the airbrusch, - hopefully. I tried it the whole day. First off all I tested the primer colour. After that tow small goods cars had been dismanteld and I gave them an orange coat, to be working cars. The are looking googd now. Than I started with a body filler, in a spray can. It showed me some mistakes on the tram body. So I used sanding paper to meke it propper. Than I painted it with the primer.

But before that, the front parts got some ornamental strips. After the painting I was realy proud to the results. I think I've got it now. ;D
