Sorry Roly, unsure what you mean.....

If your 1200Z is a serial version and connected directly to a COM port then I would expect it to be either COM1, 2, 3 or 4. If it is connected to a USB/Serial port then it would be a higher number.

If your 1200Z is a USB version then it will act as a USB/Serial port.

Normally if you select the wrong COM port in the update software the update will fail as it cannot talk to the 1200Z.
