Hello friends!
I found this forum by accident. I have been working on my garden railway for 4 years. Winter is coming, I am preparing work for this period. :) I bought the LGB20990 locomotive on eBay. I want to modify the locomotive for DCC operation. It's two locomotives in a row, it will probably be challenging.
So I came to this forum for advice.
I will search here on the forum first. Then I'll ask.
;)

A larger decoder like Massoth XL would be more than adequate for both motors. Oh welcome to the forum David.

Welcome to the forum David.

As Dunny says, a XL decoder, or an XLS with sound, would be suitable for your loco....

Welcome, Phantom. As you've found out plenty of good advice available here. Have you pictures of your line?

Hello Phantom,
Welcome to the forum. Sorry I can't help you with your technical enquires I only do Analogue and get that wrong most of the time but there are many here who speak in the exotic tongues of digital who will be able to help you. In fact you name a subject and there will be people here who will be able to assist ( sometimes "the experts" have contrasting views but that's part of the fun)
Good luck and enjoy the hobby .
David

Hi and welcome. Looks like you have an impressive railway.

Very nice, your choice of stock fits in very well as the Zittau system which had a branch that went to Frýdlant in the Liberac region of Czech Republic. Closed I believe due to open cast coal mining where the line passed.

We travelled from Prague to Berlin by rail, the country looked lovely, well have to da a return visit

Have done a fair bit of cranking in the country as well, though my first trip much like you included Prague to Dresden.

Welcome aboard.

Massoth, Zimo, ESU, Lenz have great decoders and I use ZIMO (Austria). There are more manufacturers of large scale decoders and others should respond with more suggestions. Zimo large scale (G) decoders now come with 16 bit sound and dual speaker outputs (great for that dual engine) and have 6 amp units that withstand a 10 amp surge.
One thing to note is LGB decoders (now Marklin) have fixed sound, can not be programmed to another sound, Zimo decoders are programmable and can be set for any sound in their library and a steam decoder can be reprogrammed to diesel.

Thank you very much for the information. I will start studying and try to understand as much as possible. ;) Maybe I'll start a new topic: Digitizing this locomotive.

I don't have photos of the entire track. It's not finished yet..
I don't think any of us has ever truly finished a railway. ;)

Good to see you tripped over and fell on this forum - well you did say by accident - and let me join in the hellos from a teeny-tiny land.
I've never been to CZ but oddly saw on the map a couple of days ago that it is closer than Berlin so a visit could happen.
Some of the forum may warn you about the humour, ignore them, we are all of sound mind. :fubar:

Welcome to the forum. What a really great looking railway you have there. You have certainly made the most of the space you have available. Looking forward to seeing more.
