Heavy metal in Lausitz region

The Lausitz bit rang a bell as it is where a motorsports circuit, Lausitzring, was built in post comunist era East Germany. I never twigged it was a region where mining for the infamous lignite, aka "brown coal", was carried out in massive open cast mining operations (I am so ignorant). The race track was built into one of the redundant mining sites. So heavy on the CO2 either way. Bit of reunification job creation/revitalisation ? I just love the achaic appearance of the loco and its peculiar side mounted "secondary" pantographs. It all becomes obvious why they are there when you see how the "merry go round" pick up and drop works, with an OLE powed system. Serious heavy metal in operation. Max

Thanx for the video!

Love the sideways pantographs - maybe @grizzmo can incorporate them on his line somewhere!
