My Tram engine has a good turn of speed although a load of turnips can take the edge of it a bit.
Classified Y6 by the LNER it had a gallant 5000 pound tractive effort.

I said to the owner of the Pensey (my mate) what tractive effort has your GG1 got? He thought about 71500 lbs.
I asked the impertinent question that if my Tram engine overtook his big electric would he resign immediately from the Society.
I noticed he had a tight lip as his fingers turned up the power on his controller!

Enjoyable video Trevor - as usual from you. Great to see Stateside locos and stock in operation.

Unfortunately, living in the SW, I never did get to see a Y6 running. I would loved to have seen the Wisbech line but it had ceased operations by the time I had to make regular visits to Cambridge (1979 - 1984). I did manage to follow some of its route however trying to imagine the sights and sounds of the line. ;)

Like yourself I was too late to see the Y6 (s) running but I did walk some of the track bed towards Upwell some years ago now.
Driving by today on the way to Norfolk you can still see oddments, but you would have to be a Rail enthusiast to recognize them for what they are!

Nah, methinks the GG1 was cheating with those Am track coaches - should've been hauling heavyweights ;) ;)
