It's been quite some time since I last worked on my milk transport car. Of late, I have had plenty of time to tinker in my shop. That's tinker not tinkle. I do that somewhere else. I've always been attracted to Lionel's action rolling stock and operating trackside accessories.

My milk transport car needed a roof and some painting, which is only partly finished. I have to letter the car and give it a coat of sealer.

Here is a video I shot today of where I am so far.

;D neat Dan I guess any of those old Lionel accessories can be modified to G if you apply yourself.

Fascinating. I was trying to think of what it reminded me then realised it's a bit like the TPO pickup mechanism in reverse - though much more sophisticated.

Ha Ha! Crackin' ;D Works well, perhaps open the door again when alongside to nudge the churns further out of the way. ;)

"open the door again when alongside to nudge the churns further out of the way"

What I should have done was withdraw the platform. I made it moveable so as to let trains pass.

Not come across these before.. Is it all Lionel, or have you added to it?
Can we see the 'guts' please?

I like that,,,,,car really "churns" them out :) :) :) :),,,,, Sorry people couldnt resist that :D

None of it is Lionel. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll take some interior shots of the mechanism. Wallace is moved via Buhler motor. The milk cans are hidden in a sort of corridor with a spring that pushes them into the waiting hands of Wallace.

Clever stuff :)

The story behind the project.  I`ll describe the workings through photos.  Since I can only post ten photos in one reply I will show all in two replies.
