Ge 4/4 analogue electronic pantographs on digital track using analogue mode

I just bought a used "analogue" Ge 4/4 that I'm hoping to use in analogue mode on an MTS/DCC layout, and was wondering if the automatic electronic pantographs would function correctly on digital track using analogue mode?

I was concerned that the alternating current of the DCC set up might cause the pantographs to move up and down or maybe not move at all.

I am not sure if the pantographs will work in this mode. - I think the on-board electronics will just be confused.
The loco will run, on address zero..
The biggest problem is the 'buzz' from the motors, and it not being a good idea to do this for any great length of time. - Definitely do not leave the loco sitting on the track powered-up but not moving.
The motors can get quite hot, quite quickly in this mode of running, which is not good for them.

No experience with the LGB Krok, but some points to think about.

1. Do the pantographs have a motor or relay to operate them? If not, then they are manual.

2. If the loco is analogue, with no decoder, then there can be no way to command the panto function.

3. If you do fit a decoder, you would have to program this function via the relevant CVs.

The MTS signal is not strictly alternating current in the electrical sense, but a modulated signal on a DC voltage....
 
Thanks for the replies. Each pantograph is controlled by a Buhler motor that's connected to the main circuit board.

Ah, so on an analogue track the pants go up/down depending on direction of travel, I presume?
My earlier comments still apply.. you will have to try it. I do not think any damage will be done, but the motors will 'buzz', and form an observing engineers view, I do not like it! :o ;) :D ;D ;D

Well, I decided to take a chance and put it on some digital track in analogue mode.

Both pantographs immediately went up, even though they are set to move up or down alternately. The pantograph motors were constantly making a high pitched sound and the main motors powering the wheels also sounded quite strange.

Afterwards, I decided to check the loco on some analogue track and was relieved to find that everything was working as normal. I wouldn't risk using it on digital track in analogue mode again.
