Garden Rail Outlet

I think my nearest garden railway shop is in Hythe, near Southampton and about 20 miles from where I live..

Does any member know anything about them please? Is Garden Rail Outlet a franchaise?

I have contacted them regarding my poorly Stainz and await a reply.

Some shops aren't interested in actually helping people like me and run their shops purely to make money. I'm all in favour of them making a profit but there's more to customer service than just selling a box.

I've found the model railway world can be very clicky.

Count me as a very satisfied customer. He is 'one of us', see ad in the sidebar of this forum.

I'm sure Mark ("Muns" on here) at GRO will be able to help you, Sarah - he's one of life's good guys..... but do note he's not actually a shop as such, he's primarily a specialist mail-order supplier of DCC gear, particularly Massoth. He does however carry a selection of LGB spares, and he knows what he's doing, so he may very well be able to assist with your Stainz's woes.....

Jon.

Doubtless Mark will be along in a while to explain his position.
Meanwhile here's another endorsement from a very satisfied customer. He's my first choice for anything Massoth and also any consumables such as traction tyres and light bulbs.
I've always assumed that his is a web based mail order business run as a sideline to his day job and motivated by the need for a reliable and helpful source for such items.
Edit, Thanks Jon, you've confirmed my assumption whist I was typing.

I have a dream...to open a shop...one day maybe.

I will respond to your email Sarah, I'm sure we can sort something out :)

OK, thanks for your reply.

So, since I want to enjoy my garden railway and so far it has been encouraging if somewhat frustrating, I haven't had any enjoyable consistent running.

If I decide to do away with my EZ and invest in another DCC system what will be the cost to my bank balance but which system?

Any investment must take into account my existing DCC locomotives.

Thanks.

The market over here is not large enough to sustain large dealerships, so mail order is the name of the game.

In fact Zimbler, who has been the Bachmann distributor in Australia for years, no longer imports the brand. There was a bunch of Thomas engines at the local toy store going cheaper than importing them from OS discount dealers because the local distributor cleared out all Bachmann stock. The store usually only have HO. I bought one Thomas and there was another one left there for well over a month. I felt sorry for him, unloved, being all alone in the big toy store with no other large scale items so I ended up giving him a home too. :)

Mark's great to deal with so no worries there ;)
On the dcc front I have a 5amp LGB mts2 set doing nothing since I got the 8amp booster for the Z21 controller, I kept it as an emergency spare when I had the exhibition layouts.
I'll test it later in the week as working the next two days and a bit busy to get the track out.
