Re:flashing warning lights for the wickam tram

can it be slowed down for level crossings,,,,,,,,,,,,

Re:flashing warning lights for the wickam tram

I was having a look at them in Maplins a few weeks ago. I wonder if there is any way of adjusting the flash rate to make it useful for a FRED.

You cant beat a good flasher

Re:flashing warning lights for the wickam tram

Nice one Marky....

Re:flashing warning lights for the wickam tram

That's a handy little flasher component, but it's a shame Maplin don't seem to sell the adjustable rate flasher module that Kemo also make.

The LM3909 mentioned on the circuit page has not been available for years now, but it still pops up on the web pages of flasher circuits.
LM3909's available here on Ebay but not cheap..... Oh hang on this is for 10...

And this is for 1.....

Cicuit diagram here: http://www.circuitdiagram.org/lm3909-led-flasher.html

I thought this would all have been superseeded by flashing LED's: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...ng+leds&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

Blimey Trev...snap 'em up (LM3909's)..as many as you can offord.....Make a fortune flogging them on forums!! Ideal as an end of train flasher.:rolf: The 3mm leds are ok as well. Trouble is the associated circuit and components required make it a bit bigger..
and they need 1.5 volts to work but I guess the size of the cap can to some degree controll the hZ of the flash...
where as the leds just need a resistor but would be inherently polarised...

Re:flashing warning lights for the wickam tram

Hi mbiff
I have been inspired by your Wickham Trolley and I am about to start making one. The brilliant flasher and head light system looks great and I want to include one in my version.
In the picture I can see the 'Blinker' wired in to the warning flashers.
What is the other small electronic item on the left by the headlight? What does it do?

Any list of components required to construct a similar system would be very helpful.

Mr B.
