Hi All
Decided after listening to loads of members not to fit out all my locos with DCC.

So I now have a problem which I need help with. I wish to fit Dcc/sound into my Goose no 2.
I have some parts already and the Goose is already stripped down.
Starting with the Goose. I already have a speaker fitted and in place. The motor is fitted and has two wires coming out of it that end as cut ends. I also have 7 black wires coming from under the back of the cab .
Additionally I have a decoder which looks like a lenz gold maxi and has G3703 printed on it.
I also have another board which has G scale graphics on it and Big Criiter board on it.
So can anyone help me put this back together, I want to end up with a dcc with soubd goose
Thanks
Graham

Hi Graham - Your G-Scale Graphics board has nothing to do with DCC, I assure. I am G-Scale Graphics. If you need help installing that board as battery power, radio control, please e-mail me with the data on the white label and I can get you the proper documentation. Contact and other info available at www.GScaleGraphics.net

Hi Del,
Thanks for your reply. This Goose that I have once belonged to a guy called David Buckingham, and was sold to me as a standard Goose. However I have found out that it came to me fitted with DCC , sound and was also battery fitted.
I am trying to get to the bottom of what the parts are that Ive taken off and change the Goose so that it will run on DCC with sound.
You say that the Critter card is one of yours, what is its function please.
Thank you for the info about DCC and I will contact that group
thanks
Graham

Hi Del
I have being doing a little more research today and found the following:
The decoder/ maybe sound unit that I have is definately G Scale Graphics, it is printed with G Scale Graphics on the upper side and lower side. On the upper side it has a white label which says:
ERB24 1.8 s/n 605 8-30 v, the unit has 3 screw blocks and numerous other electronic bits on it. It also has Big Critter board stamped on its upper side.
On the lower side it has Big no 1 stamped as well as G Scale Graphics

If it is one of your boards would you please explain to me what its uses are
thanks

Hi alll, decided to scrub the electrics that I have already removed from my Goose no2.
I have everything out now, snd have already fitted a Lenz Gold Maxi in. I have wired it up and the lococ works fine. I am now on with changing all the light cables over from all black to a colour scheme which is traceable and will be recorded.
Times on my side, another week or so will have it completed

Hi all, the wiring of lights etc in my Goose 2 is now complete, and it all works fine. The last job with this loco is to now fit a Uhlenbrock sound module in, the speaker has been checked and works, so I will keep you posted as to how I do
Graham

Ive just, yesterday, ordered a Hulenbrock sound decoder for my Goose 2.It should arrive on Monday and I will fit it as soon as it arrives.
Looking forward to hearing it run.

Recieved the Uhlenbrock Sound Module, and I simply fitted it using the Susi lead to connect to the Susi socket, soldered the two black wires onto the speaker leads, and lastly useing double sided tape to fix the sound module down.
Fired up the electrics and the sound was as prototype. Theres even a start up sound. I would say all in all its very worthwile doing

Pricing it all up. Firstly the DCC chip, I chose to use a Lenz Gold Maxi. These are rated at 5 amps, well over the top I know, but all my locos have Gold MaxisIin them, so why not this one. I fitted it by using Bluetac onto the floor, fitting all the wires, then testing it to make sure thst it worked okay, it did.
Next I ordered a Hulenbrock sound module and fitted that, getting great sound.
Total costs, A Lenz Gold Maxi £60, and a Hulenbrock sound module with Susi socket £53
Total cost of conversion is £113 , a fantastic saving in buying a complete dcc/sound unit
