Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

Heh! Impressive and fun.... :D
Anyone know what make the railbus is? Doesn't look like either LGB or Piko to me.

Wowee that's incredible- do u think that is a private garden- some one with spare ££ and time... did you noticed how the founatains stopped to allow the ferry a dry passage!?!

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

Just looked again .I think the loco is a Dietz model

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

Did a google

"" A warm welcome at the ?Hotel Pasewalk?
At the outskirts of the little town Pasewalk in the north east of Pomerania you can find our lovely hotel with a stimulating atmosphere and the whole spectrum of comfortable and modern hospitality.""

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

A very cleverly thought out scheme

if you notice at the end just before the ferry docks, it comes up out of the water slightly on a submerged ramp so that the ferry is not actually fully floating.

Otherwise the boat would sink a little on loading & rise up on unloading, possibly causing a derailment

cant quite see wether there are one or two guiding cables, as it doesnt seem to deviate in any bit of breeze or current

Very clever

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

there are two- you can see them before it meets the ramp at the far end of the crossing...

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

You could well be right

I thought they were two short rails to line up for docking

There you go Trevor put it between the right hand walk space. A bit narrow but worth a try

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

Kent Keith will tell you - he has one (beautiful). The old trainferries had linkspans of course, a hinged approach ramp to connect shore to deck. At Dover the trainferry berth also had lock gates to take account of the rise and fall of the tide - getting the ships in and out tended to be a lengthy business.

My guess it's a Schiede model of the T33 Wuena railbus.
Visit the site below and click on the railbus photo for more details.

I guessed wrong then Neil:rolleyes:

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

Great fun although it looks horribly unstable in "open water". I wonder if it has ever suffered duck-attack?!
HWMBO has just seen it and said "I like that." I pointed out that the lake is bigger than our garden!

Re:Fnacy taking your loco for a ferry trip?

WOW that was great :thumbup:I see the loco was number 35 are the other 34 at the bottom of the lake
