After a couple of washout days, today looked promising...

Corporate green...

P1030293.JPG

Crok relegated to freight duties...

P1030296.JPG

...but not for long...

P1030311.JPG

...they bill the Glacier Express as the world's slowest, here we do the world's most underpowered...

P1030298.JPG

...still. I do at times make things complicated for myself...

P1030302.JPG

...but rain has now stopped play.

Over the last few days have been spent on track (Points) maintenance, in the lecy continuity dept.

Every point out and checked, with extra bits added/repaired to improve things where necessary...

A bit of a rough start today, so when I had pulled myself together decided to tidy up the work bench,
That involved moving all of the as of yet to be used track...

P1030372.JPG

...now distractions and daft ideas can get out of hand, but who would have thought that...

P1030361.JPGP1030366.JPGP1030362.JPGP1030368.JPG

...do I have enough for the rest of phase II...

...but something was itching to get out of the shed...

P1030369.JPG

...now whilst this may be OK, it could be seen as a bit too close...

P1030373.JPG

...but not anymore...

P1030376.JPG

...the works were inspected by the management for legroom...

Yeah, the dog :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Got one coming possibly forever in the next week or so, another Goldie. Hope she does not get into track inspection, though Lottie the Goldie has been known to.

Today has been a strange one.

Locos not performing as they should, route settings not working, and an operating pantograph in the baggage coach causing derailments.

Most of it down controller batteries failing, but the baggage coach was down the home made internals causing the body to twist, without lowering the pantograph.

Cold day as well, too cold for alfresco dining, but we can do..,

P1030379.JPG

...alfresco maintenance...

P1030382.JPG

...all lined up ready for the next shed exit, fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Today is Coronation Day.

But playing, sorry testing trains is not necessarily a celebration...

But it's the UK and the weather, is well, uncooperative...

P1030384.JPGP1030386.JPG

...but, if you hang around long enough...

I managed to get hold of 41 paving slabs via one of those on line local/national advertising sites.

For single track laying purposes they have to be cut in half...

P1030407.JPG

...20 have been cut, giving enough "halves" for a 60 ft. of trackbed,

So over the course of this weekend the trackbed has been extended by 15 ft...

P1030408.JPG

...the way forward is blocked by one of my stone heaps, so adopting the work smarter, not harder method...

P1030409.JPG

...the wall has grown in height in places, but the bridge is out...

P1030410.JPG

...just got to remember where I left it...

P1030411.JPG
...some of the new trackbed actually has track...

P1030412.JPG

...so thats, holes dug and plinths built from the recycled building materials stacks, some of the trackbed slabs cut and laid, stones moved wall extended up a bit, and 6 bags of sand and 2 of cement used up.

Things are progressing again, for how long, who knows.o_O

Extension work is progressing, It's now approx., 53 Ft., some re-jigging of the plan as I go along, but there is progress...

P1030417.JPGP1030421.JPGP1030425.JPGP1030428.JPG

...building work aside, the garden is beginning to take over again...

Quick update on progress...

P1030436.JPG

P1030439.JPG

P1030447.JPG

P1030448.JPG

...so now work has started on the spiral, to connect the two ends up...

P1030459.JPG

...the piles of "recycled" building supplies are going down quite well...

P1030461.JPG

...I need to drop the track in order to fit under one of those 4 ft., bridges which will be the is the next section to install, not sure if it should drop as well, would be an inch over it's length, or make it level.
I'm sure there is a prototype for an inclined bridge somewhere...

Just search for this ‘Brusio spiral viaduct’, though tabled as a viaduct it is a bridge as well.

Brusio viaduct, yep I know of it already,I had a plan to build something using curved ridge tiles for the arches.
I was thinking more of an inclined bridge as in girder type, I know of that one that gets dismantled for the winter then rebuilt afterwards, carn't recall it's name though.

So here we are a couple of false starts and a few weeks later on the spiral build, miscalculate, lift, re build...
