Dummy load for programming

Hi All

I have tried to program a LGB55021 that is in a dummy end car to reverse the lighting. Because there is no motor the controller is not picking it up. Does anyone know of a resistor value I can use whilst programming to overcome this?

Almost anything you are likely to have will do the trick. - It will be 'powered' for such a short-time, it will not get hot.

Even a spare 18-24volt bulb should do.
 
The programming track operates on a fraction of an amp, there's no significant current involved. Although most decoders will actually program without a load, the programmer can't read responses unless there is a load. A 50 or 100 ohm resistor across the track is usually sufficient.
 
And just for reference there are decoders that will not program without a real motor connected.

I have a small programming setup with a motor and a speaker (I have decoders that fit a standard socket)

Almost any model motor will do..

Voltage does not overly matter, as it only gets a pulse. - Though if you were to write the whole configuration file, a low-voltage motor might get slightly warm..
