you know i have two of them also -

SRR 2-4-0 with square tender ( came with 2 shorty US style coaches which i actually really like and was a major reason to get the set when it was on close out-plus even tho a western guy-i love the crescent scheme) and an 0-4-0 C and O with a Vandy-also on close out -

when i first saw them i thought they were abominable-just nothing like them in the real world-drivers are huge -body is a chunk -

but they have come to grow on me-everything i didnt like-short and fat and out of scale-is what i now like-sort of like an ugly duckling characature-a charming toy US styled loco imho

but when they run they are captivating-and they do run well, sound is ok and the smoke and light nicely

-and they look particularly impressive when double headed-

they look great on your layout too

fyi
mind those tender stirrups-they are easily broken and impossible to replace

me to the Vandy-i think its not ony unique among LGB stuff-but the overall (dis) proportion is more subtle-plus there were some ng locos that used something similar-the whalebacks from WP&Y and SP

thanks for the posted pics on the mogul with shortie
very nice
