Decoder for Bachmann 2-4-2T

Hi all
I believe the above loco has an 8 pin socket fitted. Is a 1.0 Amp continuous, 2.0 A peak decoder sufficient for this loco?

It depends on how 'twitchy' the decoder is?

Two things will decide this:
How much current is required to start the motor turning under load.
What the stall-current of the motor / drive-chain is.

If the instantaneous starting current is too high for the decoder, it will (hopefully) shutdown.. - Or (worst-case) let out the magic-smoke.
If the stall-current is too high, hopefully, the decoder shuts down, to protect itself.

Personally, I would go for something with a higher rating..
