DCC controller feature wishlist

Although I use Massoth Central station and navigator which is pretty good, there are features that I would like to be available on the Massoth and other manufacturers kit (some may have some or all of the features already!)
Here is my Wishlist:
1. Easy consist programming on the controller allowing lash-ups with locos pointing either way without having to change direction CV29 in each loco that you want to reverse-face in the consist.
2. A two button configuration that could increase or decrease incrementally the sound volume without having to change CV63 (yes, you can program two settings or, on and off, but I mean variable incremental sound access)
3. Ability to have more than two locos under control on one controller with a 'quick' switch between them ie. rather than having to change the address to accesses the locos, you could just have, let's say, four locos numbered 1 to 4 whose addresses were set up previously and could be selected by pressing one button then button 1,2,3 or4

What would you like.......

Completely agree with (2) and (3), Mike - they'd be extremely useful. While I wouldn't make much use of (1) myself, I can fully appreciate why all you US-profile chaps want it!

I suggest the 'slave button'. Press it and in a puff of smoke a personal slave appears ready to do ones bidding. "Go and remove all the leaves from the line, then clean the track".

Some people may think that SHMBO can take the place of the slave button. I tried that once and nearly didn't live to tell another tail.

Wouldn't the French Maid have been a better choice? ;D

Those are really good suggestions so far, especially #2 and #3.

For #3, maybe they could add another option for switching between locos to the M1 button. So in addition to using for showing current state of power use, 2nd loco and switches it could also go to the loco choice for the dial. That one would be super useful.

I'd also like a way to access the higher functions when running the second loco on the navigator with the arrow keys.

I think I'm starting to see why the English so quickly got pushed out of the FIFA World Cup match--they were too easily distracted by all those Brazilian beauties in the stands! :o ;D O0

Better than trains or football then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a control system which does all that I require, its a Lenz system. I have no need to consist anything, (bit difficult with Shays ,Climax etc, so I have no use for it, Im happy with what I have

In reverse order!
3 With my Zimo MX10 there is a scroll wheel or the loco button to quickly move between engines available and then enter to select. It takes longer to type than to do.
2 Easy, use Zimo decoders with your current control kit of whatever flavour and set two CVs for up and down volume on the function buttons that you prefer.
1 Alledgely the next MX10 firmware upgrade will enable Advances Consisting and the decoder programming deals with functions sounds etc when in a consist.

Funny a similar requirement (select loco from Last used loco list) is being discussed within MERG for their CBUS DCC handsets.

I will pass all suggestions to Massoth - you never know they may add them to a subsequent version of the Navigator firmware.

I would *really* like it if..
When you hit the 'Eeek! Panic! Stop' button, it did stay STOPPED when you turned it on again!
You normally do this because two (or more) expensive pieces of kit are turning themselves into their constituent parts. Having to have three arms to control things and prevent a train ramming something else, all at the same time is awkward. - It also makes you look silly in the eyes of the public!!

Wouldn't a "plug & play" controller be the ideal thing to wish for?:) Then IT dummies like me would be able to go DCC

That is 'sort of' what the Massoth CS3 does.. But ONLY if you buy stock with the new MFX decoders fitted..

Incoming! - Ducks behind parapet!

Was that a deliberate slip or should it read Marklin rather than Massoth?

Freudian slip methinks??
It should indeed have read Marklin.

As the programmer said:
"If I could spell, I would be dangerous!"

And I don't like the Marklin exactly because you cant get inside and play. (amongst other issues)
I fully accept the advantage of a simple system that just does it, but that is also its limitation.

Would you like to elaborate on " amongst other issues"?
