A few of "the usual suspects" from the West Midlands gathered at the Quinton line on Saturday, March 10th, by invitation of the General Manager. For those not familiar with the line, it's a splendidly arranged circuit with long, sensual curves (minimum radius 6 feet!) spread elegantly around a suburban garden. A real treat! Anyway, some piccies....
"Kaiser Otto" is on tour this year with Ruritania's 2012 roving exhibition train:
An RDC could be in dry as dust Arizona, rather than somewhat wetter Birmingham...
Small engines, but big haulers. The battery powered Bachmann Davenport has astonishing pulling power!
Chris's "improved flying banana". Scratchbuilt body on a USA Trains motor block. Fast and furious, with a habit of trying to attck trains ahead!
A panoramic shot shows those sensual curves to good advantage. Oooh - that looks like one of Dave Hub's exquisite Network Rail trains in the background. Let's check...
Yep, it's derailed. Definitely one of Dave's!
Finally, a personal indulgence. My favourite US railroad and its all-time best livery on one of my favourite US locos.
A fitting end to a great day. Thanks to Chris M for hosting us and to Colin, Tom, Dave and members of Warley MRC. Top chaps all!
