Re:Cosford Air Show planes you didn't see on our Openday

My photo's don't seem to show how low and close they were to the house , they looked a lot larger and clearer with the naked eye . Have also some video which shows really how load they were will try and up load this when I get time .

Re:Cosford Air Show planes you didn't see on our Openday

Best 'Arraa's 'display I ever saw was when they practised over Turnhouse (Edinburgh). We were near the top of Sighthill, a lot higher than the airport, so a lot of it was going on more or less level with us, or only slightly higher so the view was fantastic. There was a bit of cloud about but that only made it more spectacular when they burst through it.

I have a few from the air show to add, hope you don't mind.

Re:Cosford Air Show planes you didn't see on our Openday

Brilliant pictures .....brings back many a memory of my days in the RAF (loved every minute). While in Cyprus I got a first line seat when a red arrow crashed on the airfield where I was walking my dog....the aircraft hit the ground after coming out of a spiral maneuver , bounced....and then the pilot ejected (could not eject before as the pilot would of ejected in to the ground)....flipping amazing. Needless to say the boys were up again the next day....minus one plane!!

Wow some fantastic photo' s there Dave you must have a very good camera with a good zoom love the shots of the Vulcan :)

Re:Cosford Air Show planes you didn't see on our Openday

It's ok but still just a little point and shoot (Panasonic, Lumix) Keith has one too I think. You can fiddle with the settings a bit but I haven't explored the half of it. I found it difficult without a viewfinder in the bright sunlight. I like to add things other that the main subject matter too, somthing to help with perspective or just sometimes the exposure or focus can change things massively. 70% of the piccys are rubbish but you can play much more easily and cheaply with a digi' camera.

Superb Dave, great shots of the Vulcan to savour as it might be the last year due to the airframe fatigue.
She's got a reprieve till at least the end of 2014................

Re:Cosford Air Show planes you didn't see on our Openday

Nice to see the 'Flying Footbal Pitch' back in the air?

For those fans of the 'Dead Sparrows', we get a Folland Gnat or two regularly in the circuit here at Wattashambles. I'll try and dig out some info on them.

Also, the Museum here now has one of the Hawker Hunter aircraft that flew with the predecessor of the Reds, the Black Arrows....

Re:Cosford Air Show planes you didn't see on our Openday

From what I can gather, using the wonder web, the Gnat is frequenly seen in Suffolk, flying over various airfields here abouts. It's based at North Weald.

I have seen 2 in the circuit, and they've landed on here a couple of weeks ago....
