Corrugated materials

I had a Sunday evening feed at said Chinese, the Chinese HoTplate in Gordon ACT ( a shamless prug for them) wow not too bad at all...... so the time comes to pay the bill and I ask has the dude got any empty tin cans, look on his face pricress... he comes back with 3 washed out for me. By quick calculation each can will yield a piece of corrugated iron 200mm x 450mm. The lemon chicken was rubbery and when I mentioned that the lemon chicken is rubbery he said "Oh thanks you velly much".... OH DEAR ME
boom boom.....
PS I dont eat mushrooms.....

[style="color: #0000ff;"][style="color: #333333;"]This thread started with a CAN ! :rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:
OH MY GOD.... is that canned laughter???

Ok..... Soooooooooooo after some experimentation I have come to the conclusion that the treated corrugated cardboard is very good and the bit I made looked good the dissected tin cans looked far better. The cardboard was too corrugated and the cans actually looked more realistic as the corrugations are not a well I guess the word is severe and probably more to scale... yes I'm a pedantic old fart.... the comparison was made with both samples painted a light grey....
I'd like to put a motion before the house, all those in favour? Those against?

I vote for old tins ('cos I'm a tight git) because it looks quite good as these pics may (or may not - whichever is the case) prove:rolf:

I have buildings on my trailer layout (not counting the dunny) which have this form of roof. Corrugated was used extensively to replace thatch over here - plus all agri buildings still use it!

In a quiet corner of the garden I've got a little stash of corrugated cans going nicely rusty.

The wife sometimes worries about my sanity.:confused:
Let me assure you that there is nothing wrong with your sanity..... I was talking to my shrink just the other day and posed the question - " so I must be insane if I'm seeing you, ergo I'm insane so tell me why am I surrounded by real nutters" she had no answer...... her husband is in to G scale big time and I think she just likes to probe me for ideas..... fortunatley at public expense....
Egad! You have just placed me in an existential quandary.

Marcel Proust had a haddock you know.

A probing, a probing.

Naughty Zoot.

I don't think much of Haddock like eating oily cotton wool with pins thru it.....

Love the roof work Mick - proves the point :thumbup:
As I posted originally, I didn't really imagine no one else had done this - just couldn't find any reference....... thought there would be many other cost-sensitive modellers, like me, out there

Oddjob frisbees? - lids at least:rolf::rolf:

fray Bentos tins are exceptionally good as a ferrous bits tray if you put a magnet in them..... And those eliptical cans that kippers and herrings come in make absolutley fantastic hulls for Pop Pop boats which, incidentally could be made from corrugated tin if one wished to recreate the early Citroen versions....
