Today, I received a direct decoder LGB sound board from a LGB 'shorty' 2-4-0 locomotive (sound board still fitted to tender). Tried it first on analogue with no problems. I know the instructions call for a type 11 #55021 decoder, however, having a spare type 1 #55020 on hand, I fitted it. Chuff worked just fine along with bell/whistle magnet trigger. However, when function '1' or '2' selected for remote bell/whistle, unit went very quiet.

DIP switches selected to 'ON' position and sound unit tested fine on analogue once decoder was removed. Decoder refitted to 'donor' loco and placed on DCC track. With no loco address selected the loco ran full speed in one direction (Navigator turned off). In other direction loco ran slowly with lights illuminated. Selecting correct address made no difference. Decoder then factory reset to no avail. Would assume decoder is gone to God! Seems loco is running on analogue power at full speed, irrespective of decoder input or lack there of.
