Hello again
My next project is to convert an old LGB Mogul to DCC. I think it is model number 23191 and I would like to retain the original sound system if possible. Any ideas?

You'll need to recheck the model number, and put up a piccy to make sure, as the 23191 Mogul came factory fitted with MTS but no sound acording to the info I have ;)

Can I help?

I converted this Mogul to digital:

It had analogue sound, but that was broken before the digital conversion so I didn't try and save it. There are some pics in the sound section about how I put sound back into it.

The three pin gear box had to be converted to four pin. I retained the LGB electronics to control the lights, firebox flicker and smoke stack, to keep it simple.

What do you want to know?

I found a few (bad) photos from when I did the digital conversion.

You can just about see here the orange wire connected directly to the motor and bypassing the third pin

In this photo the motor block can be seen with its four inputs, ignoring the wires with the connector (which connect to the chuff sensor) there are the three original pins plus the fourth which is the orange wire.

This doesn't show much except that the original LGB electronics have been retained.

I don't seem to have taken any more photos, sorry!

Hope that helps.
