Cinema.... Flashing chasing LEDS

Im years ahead of myself here but I had a sleepless night caused by muscle pain from crawling around under the tramway.....
My Art Deco Cinema which will be one of the modular buldings I am going to build will need rows of flashing/chasing leds. Up the front "wing" it'll be a row of red white & blue leds that just flash and under the awning at the front will be a row of warm white leds that I hope to chase.
Ok flashing warm white should not present any real hassels, I'll utilise these with a dropping resistor and run them from 12VDC; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Battery-...or_Lighting&hash=item4d0118372c#ht_4088wt_898

Chasing on the other hand is a little more complex, Jaycar used to stock a kit alas no more and I cant find one on ebay. I did a search here because I vaguely recall the topic being discussed but a search revealed zilch....
Can someone share a circuit prefferably ready for veroboard????

(I use TE diesel sound cards and they are easy to build and reliable)
 
Ok I got a KJ8086 from Jaycar they had one left. No instructions but the locations and values of the components are on the board. Only 1 minor catch, this is to drive 20 x 1.5v 10mcd red leds and I want to drive 3.2v warm white leds....
I'm deducing that it would be the single 330R resitor that may control the output voltage or maybe the 2K2 but not the row of 10K ....
I'll hunt around and find a similar circuit and try and work it out. They had no instructions for this "kit" available and the PFT (pimply faced tosser) would not copy the pages out of his book.... I think they were pleased to see a sucker buy it.... AND now having got it when I work out how it works I can for once in my lousy life come out a winner ( as Basil said soto voce when his horse won)
 
Trev, there are lots of cheap "flashing novelties" that would provide the sort of effect you need. I was at a village open-air event last weekend and bought a "foam flashing stick" for £2 mainly to support the event, but also with an eye to using the electronics for a modelling project. Ok it runs on button cells but no doubt can be powered from a supply with suitable voltage regulation.

Cor flashing foam sticks, what will they think of next... Yes these novelties seem to be so cheap to buy and there is an endless variety on the market... My dog has a flashing safety collar....
I did find this via google which would also be simple to build.....
