Can anyone identify this mini railcar?

I am thinking of scratch building a railway car similar to this. Can anyone identify if this is based on a real car or something out of someone's imagination? I have scratch built a caboose and other projects, and am now looking for something a bit simpler. Can anyone cast some light on this? I found it on Google but with no information. Thanks, CarlScreenshot 2024-11-20 at 3.13.28 PM.png

Tis a little critter much loved in smaller scales for 7mm on 16.5 track using a bachman chassis. Also been done in HO as a standard gauge beast. As for prototype, hm…. Try googling pictures of rail critters.

My suspicion is that it is not a model of an actual prototype.

I believe the Banta Crewcab kit was also freelance, but probably a bit more plausible -seen in the background below

Thanks!! I found info and photos.
It looks quite twee, but you need to do a reality check with rough dimensions. The side door emulates a sliding door on a full-size combine, but where will it slide in order to open?

Once you have a scale driver in the seat, how much room is there for anything else? Certainly, the Banta crewcab would only just about six scale workers and a few tools, and they'd be sitting quite cosily next to each other ;)

Thanks for the info. I may decide to build something a bit larger so it can accommodate a bit more interior space. I have also made a few locomotives and train cars at 1:32 scale (all static models), so I may decide to do this in the same scale. I have also built a lot of trams in 1:24, so perhaps that scale.

Kitbash on a Bachmann Davenport, nice little Critter
Yep - over here there's a chassis manufacturer (Essel Engineering) that makes a replacement for the Bachmann Davenport, so I bought one of them, bought the Banta crewcab kit which was a body replacement for the Davenport and, hey presto :):):)

From the Banta Modelworks website. I have one in blue.

I'm thinking of building my model with the kind of wheels shown on the wagon above, or something similar to the photos attached. Does anyone know where I might find these or something similar? My model will be static - display only, about G-scale give or take..

If the model is going to be static, maybe make them from styrene sheet? You could cut discs and then mark out and cut them, perhaps using a template to ensure consistency?

Have a look at IP Engineering, he does all sorts of wheels and bits including chassis so that you can screw the lot together. Look at the homebuilder parts then chassis.
